I just left the store on Lancaster in Salem and to say, i'm mortified, would be an understatement, I was trying on some clothes and put my hand in the pocket and found a used pad completely exposed to the used part. I obviously talked to one of the workers there and the only thing that they would do was give me $1 off another pair of pants that had a hole in the crotch!! That's it! It was definitely not mine, as I wa wearing a sundress with no undergarments,(I know TMI, but that part is important to the story) I felt like I was going to throw up.I was shaking and now i'm crying in the car. Seems to me they could have at least done a little more for me as a customer.Especially since I still bought product, there. I won't ever again! I'm going to reach out to corporate If I can figure out how to, if anybody knows, please let me know. This is unacceptable, and though I realize it's not their fault that somebody was so gross like that. However, this is their institution, and they should care a little more about their customers!! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

All low quality clothes (polyester, third party brands, wholesale, etc) and the only name brand items (nike, columbia, pendelton) are behind a 15$+ charge… and that is just the ugly “name” brand items…
The books never get updated, maybe once each month 50-60 books get added.
The appliances, toys, games, electronics, etc also gets the very high mark up and the very lowest quality.
I would like to add, that before 2025 the store did have some nice gems and good items at a high price. But in 2025 it is mostly all very used and low quality items for a very high price. It is sad to call this a “thrift store” with the way they receive free donations, but will push out garbage for a high price and sell the good donations into their own websites/fancier stores for a higher price, on the DONATED goods of the community …
The store receives items from around the community. And they only put out the cheap items (this is the poor side of town) and the nice stuff that got donated will get put in their online auctions… not worth your time coming here if you want to find hidden gems or anything worth of value. Unless you need the cheapest most expensive items, then this is your store.

Staff are generally great at these salem locations.. HOWEVER!,
I among the rest of the world would like to know why your companies pricing has sky-rocketed into retail pricing or HIGHER! shirts should NEVER be more than $6 in goodwill stores. Instead I see them marked at $10-$30 not to mention certain items that CLEARLY came from dollar store being marked up to $5 or furniture being $200 - this is an absolute outrage and I don't want to hear "it's because of re-sellers" no. Who cares about them. They're making a living, leave it alone. What happened to the good days when family's on tight budgets could go into goodwill and get a new wardrobe for $20-$30??
This company literally gets EVERYTHING that they sell FOR FREEE!!!! but they wanna charge $30-$50 for a Pair of USED SHOES or $100 for a t.v that MIGHT work?? Or clothes that are heavily used/ torn, stained and they want $15-$30 for it? Are you serious goodwill?
EVERYONE NEEDS TO STOP PAYING THESE OUTRAGEOUS PRICES SO THEY'LL FINALLY REALIZE THEY NEED TO DROP THESE PRICES! ?
Especially now more than ever; considering half of America is struggling to stay in their homes or have already been evicted and no longer have home. This is the highest inflation has been since the 80s or something. NOW... I don't agree with any company raising pricing unless it's literally the only way they stay profitable. But GOODWILL? ( YOU'RE NOT A FREAKING RETAIL STORE!!! YOU TAKE IN 'FREE' (IF I COULD MAKE IT LARGER I WOULD. HERE. I'LL SAY IT AGAIN. FREE FREE FREE FREE FREE FREE FREE FREE! YOU GET YOUR CRAP FOR FREEEEEEEEEEE WHY YOU CHARGING SO MUCH?!?

The worst store ever! Their staff is very rude. I was harassed by a homeless girl, and when I confronted her, she ran inside the store. Then, the manager came out and started telling me to leave his customer alone. In fact, this homeless person loves shoplifting at Goodwill. The manager started recording me, so I was harassed by him as well. I'm definitely going to put this on social media. This is unacceptable!

I'm having a hard time believing it. No matter which store I went to, the prices were too high. It is cruel to sell donated zero-cost products at such an expensive price. The color of the week is red and they supposedly have a 50 percent discount. All books with red labels are priced at 6.99 and 7.99. Now I understand that you don't care about the people.

NO DRESSING ROOMS!
What goodwill doesn't have a dressing room??? How do u guys even make money! I had 7 dress to try on and they wouldn't open a single one.....they said it was closed for 3 years?! Ummmm I don't think so, I highly doubt anyone would buy something from goodwill(clothing) without trying it on first. I'm just dumbfounded that the goodwill workers wouldn't even let me try it on in the bathroom. What am I gonna do?! Steal ur 7.99 dresses?? I was wondering y there were so many pretty dresses, its because NO ONE can try them on to see if they look good before they buy them. They're garenteed losing money(which is donations to those in need)because of this.

Sold me an awesome piece of furniture but wouldn't let me take it home till the next day, then the next day they say their donation center is closed at the time the other attendant told me to pick it up so it gets donated back and they stole my money. Goodwill likes to prey on the disabled.
