The deli in this store is absolutely disgusting. The employees do not wear gloves when serving you. Some of them have long fingernails where you can visibly see gunk under them and it’s just so gross. I’ve never once seen any of them wash their hands either. They will just touch the hot food with their bare hands. It’s completely against health code and very unsanitary. That’s if you can even get service. Most the time they all hide in the back so they can avoid serving customers. Everything is wrong about this entire department. The food is old and dry, hot case is empty half the time. They need a very serious management overhaul. I’m incredibly shocked no one has gotten sick from there yet.

We love their Friday deals but come early because they often sell out by the afternoon. They have the typical things most large grocery stores have such as a bakery, a deli, a meat dept, a pharmacy, a florist and gift area, etc. This store is clean and the service friendly. They have good deals and a great app. They offer grocery pick up and delivery.

Lines and our things never ring up the correct price and then you hold up already long lines. Isles always crowded with employees restocking. Employees are very, very kind. Out of stock on Sale items. Always. It's a stressful grocery store in West Salem.

The short dude with the goatee like facial hair at the pharmacy, not sure of his name is so rude. Incredibly nasty to me when I asked why my cost was so much higher than normal to find out he didn't even run it through both my insurance policies. Told me that it was ridiculous that I needed to use both policies and that it was just wasting his time to do it. I'm going to switch to a new pharmacy asap because that's not what anyone should have to deal with.

The cashier guy at the pharmacy always stinks so badly of body odor that I had to leave and have my doctors office switch to a different safeway that's out of my way so I don't run into him there. It's concerning that someone who works in medical and in such close proximity to people is constantly smelling like body odor and no one seems to say anything or do anything about it. Makes you wonder how clean it is back there

So I love going up to Safeway to get their donuts usually always there in the morning I just recently found out that you guys make breakfast sandwiches I want to buy one now Deli says it's open at 6:00 so when I went up there this morning I asked them if they were open there's a lady that was doing look like inventory and she looked at me and said the machine is off didn't really help me out or even really explain why and then I tried finding her again and she literally disappeared also yesterday I called and wanted to get another breakfast sandwich and I didn't even have anyone working in the deli I would just be careful going there.

Today I ordered a sandwich from the deli. Both the meat and the cheese had to be cut, first. After the Mayo and mustard, I ordered sub sauce.
"We don't have that" the guy said.
Of the "toppings" they call them, (vegetables), I read off the three I wanted, and 3 times was told "we're out of that", lettuce and tomato was all there was.
The guy wrapped it without cutting it in half first, and I looked for the napkin dispenser. I couldn't find one because they didn't have one, had to ask another employee for napkins, and he acted like I was bothering him.
I think they should've offered a slight discount, or at least some kind of bonus.
If I had known this, I would not have ordered a sandwich, much less paid $7 for it!
Slow, out of items, no napkins, and rude, as well.
I won't do that again!

I normally don't shop at Safeway but went to the West Salem location out of convenience as I was in a rush to grab a few items. I used the items purchased the following day. The colby jack cheese bar had mold on it, the Capiolla Salami was a few days expired (I threw it out) and I got violently ill consuming the ground pork. It wasn't expired, but I'd guess it was left out somewhere warm for an extended period of time and was spoiled.

Convenient to where I live, but a little pricey. Really Love their meatloaf. Every time I go to Safeway, the first thing I do is check for a fresh hot meatloaf. Whatever else I came for, if there is a meatloaf, I get it.

I go to Safeway simply because it is close and they make awesome beagles and cookies in their bakery. The staff is friendly, but Safeway must not have good upper management. The pharmacy is understaffed, the cashiers are understaffed and the shelves are constantly missing products
