Charged me $600 for a serpentine belt and greased the break pedal that would stick. The serpentine belt was squeaky before and after he looked at it, only for the whole thing to snap off while I drove the car to work. My coworker fixed the serpentine belt, in 30 minutes at our jobs parking lot. He fixed it right and have not had problems since. I totally regret having taken my car to him, he was really friendly that's for sure but seriously $600 for a serpentine belt? He said he was going to have to take a bunch of parts so he could swap the belt again, my co worker did a better job with pliers and a socket wrench in 30 minutes.
If I could give a lower rating I totally would.

My Toyota RAV-4 had a rare mechanical problem that when first diagnosed by a Portland mechanic was told it would be over $6800 for an entire engine replacement. Didn’t offer further investigating so when a family friend recommended Helmer’s I got my car towed to their shop and was immediately treated with more dignity and determination. David was quite the sleuth and discovered the problem after a few attempts and research and within weeks my car was operational at less than 10% the original quote price. I am very lucky to have had this experience and will be going back when needed in the future!

Always the greatest of experiences. They have helped me in a pinch multiple times that other shops would take over a week to get to- helmer automotive got fixed the same day I brought in. They also worked me in by letting me drop off my car for the day even though they had a full day of appointments scheduled.
