Island Park is adjacent to the Willamette River and close to downtown Springfield. It is a great place for a leisurely stroll with river views or to relax on a shady bench. The park is well maintained and easily accessed, with concrete pathways making it accessible. It features a kid’s playground, open grassy play areas with huge shade trees great for picnicking, and picnic shelters that can be reserved. There is a stage for events, a boat ramp, and it is a place for dogs. Restrooms are available. The Willamette river is cold and swift, so swimmers should use caution.
