I do recommend this Safeway because Hometown Proud should mean something and they have been a part of this community for years and I have been a Safeway shopper for decades, going back to being the person you hate to be behind because of the disgusting amount of paper coupons that had to be scanned every time I shopped there.
That said, I would also like to recommend that the young lady working the front around 11:00 pm last night be put through additional customer service training and I would like to further recommend it be modeled after the young lady who came chasing down the aisle after me.
I did not get the names of either one, but the young lady who assisted me had long blonde hair and I would like to send her a huge THANK YOU for your assistance!
I approached the front to ask where the water was and before I got the whole question out, I spotted it right in front of the registers and I said never mind, I found it.
The young woman working the front then asked if I was looking for the 3 for $5 water that was a Friday special and I said yes. At that point, one would think she would have offered to help me load it into my cart, but that was not the reply I got at all. Instead she told me it was located at the end of Aisle 4 and said she would like to "push" (her word) me towards going to the aisle to get it because the have to carry it all the way to the front if I got it there.
Seriously? I turned around to go get it and the blonde young woman literally came running after me to assist in loading it for me. I was almost embarrassed to let her.
Neither one had any idea I had just been rear-ended in Portland and was already shaky from that and I try to shop late because crowds of people are not good for me. But the point is, I was appalled, that is not a situation that should ever happen in any retail store. Last I checked, Safeway signs your paycheck and stocking shelves may or may not be part of YOUR job description, but it is a part of working in a grocery store.
On a side note, your App used to be so easy to use and it took me an hour to go through all the items to find what I needed to add coupons for and another 20 minutes to locate the aisles in the App so I could just breeze through. I did finally locate them, but lost them on the way to the store and I couldn't find them again when I got there, so I know for a fact there was more on my list then I left with, so that's $ out of your pocket.
Might I suggest, you continue to print all the ads we get in the mail every week and just load everything into a data base that automatically loads into everyone who has a card. And unloads and reloads the next week. That would not only save you a ton of money and generate a ton more, it would keep us from being so discouraged and frazzled just trying to find what we need.
And I get the marketing strategy behind moving EVERYTHING around, so people have to go through every aisle looking for what they used to know how to find, but from a consumer point of view, nothing irritates me more. Especially with how I am and shopping, I need to know where I am going when I enter the store to get what I need. I am not more likely to purchase items I didn't go for by being forced to go on a scavenger hunt. What I am considering is just not shopping here anymore, grocery shopping was never intended to be this stressful. ???

With the disgusting prices this store charges you would think they have enough money to have the parking lot properly cleared of snow and ice. Very poor showing of the level of safety they want for our community.

Had an awful experience with the grocery pickup. Brown lettuce, completely brown pineapple, 3 things in my bag that I didn't order(and wasnt charged for, thankfully) and half the stuff I ordered wasnt in stock. Going back to Freddys, at least they know what they are doing and dont give you old produce.

I would keep my employees from talking about folks with other employees in a negative light. Just because folks recycle cans does not mean they are a convenient targets for low class employees to poke fun at. My wife buys and returns her Diet Squirt and my Diet Sunkist cans at your store because she PURCHASES them there. To be demeaned and told to basically screw off by an employee because her break was interrupted is beyond rude. Then to find the same employee talking to ano

"Three's a crowd David, three's a crowd." No idea what it meant, but it was hilarious to hear over the intercom more than once while I was shopping. I'd love to know that back story. Lol

Review is about Diana Riggs Just wanted to give a shout out to an amazing lady that works at the St Helens Safeway. This morning around 9:10 I had to run in with a very cranky, tired, teething, terrible two-ing toddler with a double ear infection... I only had a few items to grab but she was done and throwing an all out fit... The cashier kept saying things like "wow" and "oh my" but this gal, that gets the carts and does carry outs, walked up all smiles and totally distracted my child! She played with her while I finished and then walked my cart out with my one bag and kept my daughter smiling. She eased the stressful, everyone is judging moment and just was wonderful. I didn't catch her name but she changed my morning! Thank you and I hope you are blessed as you blessed my daughter and I!!

I only go there if I absolutely have to. I’ll drive to Scappoose Fred Meyers because no matter what time of day it is, it takes 20 minutes to check out at Safeway when you’re only getting 1 or 2 items. Can’t just run in and grab milk real quick. You can at Freddy’s. They need to hire more cashiers and get more lanes. Everyone I talk to complains about this so they’re missing out on a lot of money. And their prices are insanely high!
