Sumpter Depot & Gift Shop is part of the historic Sumpter Valley Railway, operating out of McEwen Depot in Oregon and traveling to Sumpter on scheduled weekends. The annual operating season runs from Memorial Day Weekend to the second weekend of December, including the annual Christmas Train and Parade. The depot is a beautiful place to board and disembark the train, with a wooden platform and a gift shop inside offering a variety of merchandise. Visitors can enjoy a family-friendly ride, even catching a glimpse of Santa, though the weather can be a bit chilly. The depot is surrounded by scenic trails and the nearby Dredge, providing opportunities for exploration and learning about the area's history. While the shop may be closed at times, it's worth a visit, especially during the warmer months, to experience the charm of this historic railway.
We took the Train Robbery excursion and it exceeded expectations! The all-volunteer staff clearly are passionate about providing guests a fun and realistic experience.

My mom and I rode the train on Saturday. It was such a wonderful experience. The conductor was so fun and helpful with my 87 year old mom. We had a great time making memories of a lifetime.

Wonderful way to spend and afternoon with kids and grandkids. Everyone involved were so friendly and really made the day enjoyable. The costumes and staged train robbery act was impressively done and was very entertaining. Thank you!
