The first time we used the container store 20 years ago our experience was 5 star.
Not so this time and I'm being gracious giving them the 2 stairs. The experience this time gets two stars are because certain employees that are on staff are extremely condescending and rude. We have spent close to $5,000 for 3 closets and 1rack system in an art studio. Upon receiving 4 of racks that were cut down, I am unable to place them in the bracket's with the other shelves until I either make the trip yet again ( apx 100 miles round trip) or “go out and buy a file at home Depot and file them down myself”!!!!!!! as i was instructed by her. The attitude of this individual and others on her team is and has been remarkably rude. It’s amazing what customer service can accomplish when done with respect. I would have made arrangements to travel had her attitude been better. Im very hesitant to return or purchase from them again and that is due to this employee. At this point, I would suggest buyer beware of employees with condescending and rude attitudes towards YOU the buying consumer!

This review is focused on the custom closet experience — which I do not recommend. Save yourself the frustration and go elsewhere.
I ordered a closet system for my child in September 2024. While most of the order arrived promptly, we were informed that the drawer fronts were on backorder.
From that point until March 2025, I had to call The Container Store at least 30 times to get updates. I spoke with numerous associates and managers — some said the parts were in stock, others gave shipping dates, and a few claimed the items were already on the way. Despite all that, the drawer fronts never arrived.
Ultimately, it became clear that our order had simply been forgotten. Even once the items were back in stock, the company didn’t ship them until I escalated the issue through corporate. Had I not pushed, I genuinely don’t believe the order would have ever been completed.
To make matters worse, the finished closet system feels cheaply made — and this was their premium product. Considering the poor customer service and fulfillment issues, I strongly urge others to look elsewhere.
I spent far too much time (and money) on this process. Don't make the same mistake I did!
For context: this is only the second Google review I’ve ever written. I’m doing it because I don’t want anyone else to go through what I did — and end up with a subpar product after months of frustration.

I used to be a loyal container store customer but there have been a few incidents in the last close to 6 months. This last one was the last straw for me. I was having great service throughout the store, the cashier was lovely, but during the transaction I overheard (who I assume is a manager) speaking extremely down and poorly to another employee. To speak the way she had spoke (even in private) would have been unacceptable, but in front of the public actually made me feel embarrassed disgusted and extremely upset. I never write reviews etc. but it was so inappropriate that I felt strongly that I need to speak out because no one deserves to be talked to in the way she speaking. I asked the girl who was checking me out what the woman’s name is and she said “Kristen” (which didn’t surprise me because it was the same name as the woman who was extremely inappropriate the time prior.)needless to say I won’t be giving my money to a company who employs and allows this type of behavior. I am posting this here and also sending this through the container store website.

This place is a husbands nightmare... When we go there, I cease to exist as my wife runs rampant, spending like there's no tomorrow. I'm not sure how to feel about it, honestly, but when the dust settles and my house is newly organized with Container Store goods, I do see what this is all about. The Container Store does, after all, have an incredible assortment of unique products even if i don't share my brides passion for organizing. Give them a shot and go check them out. Called ahead before driving 45 minutes to the Bridgeport store to ask if they had a specific item. She confirmed the measurements and I told her I would be on my way. They did not even have the item in store..Then I grabbed another item not realizing it was display only when Sarah stopped to inform me this was a display but that she can bring the item inside a box to the register. I waited for aprox 10 min before she brought it up front. It didn’t appear to be the correct size so I then had to go back and get the display for the employee at the register so he could get me the correct size. Now I wait another 10 min for him to say it’s out of stock but he could order it. Then as I’m debating what to do another employee brings the correct item!! They are really lacking in communication and customer service and made my first visit very disappointing. I probably won’t be back and will likely continue to order my things online. This is the reason stores are going out of business because customer service is not what it used to be!
