This place needs to be closed! None of the amenities are offered anymore and it was so disgusting, it was unsafe! We didn't last more than 5 minutes in the room and had to get out for our health and the health of our toddler. The smell of urine was so overpowering that our noses and throats were burning. They said we could get a refund if we contacted who we booked through but then didn't respond to them so we weren't given the credit.

It's a shame that the lobby makes a guest want to flee, because the selectively updated room was very clean and comfortable. Updated flooring, paint, light fixtures and linen made it a welcoming room.

The rooms are okay, the steam room and the hot tub been down for a long time .. even though the workers said the owner has money to fix it they just don't care. The front end desk workers are always great and helpful, other then the that, I would say this hotel should fall in the price range of 80$ there's nothing to pay for.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hot tub was broken and shut down permanently. The swimming pool was honestly pretty gross the pool itself looks like it needs cleaned, the ceiling tile has green stuff growing on it and the condensation drips from the mildew tiles back into the pool. The hot tub and pool were the reason we booked there. And then we only spent about two minutes in there before we decided it was to gross. The room was clean and the water in the shower was hot and had great water pressure. The beds were pretty hard and uncomfortable. We probably won't stay here again.

Check in was frustrating. The receptionist required photo id and our U.K. passports, the ultimate ID in most people's opinion, did not meet her requirement it doesn't have our home address on. Since my U.K. Driving Licence has my address but no photo that was no good either. Had to have both on the same document it seems. It looked like we were going to be homeless for the night but she eventually decided my passport would suffice. We didn't have this bother for any of the other 15 nights of our trip. She offered no info about the hotel until we asked (pool hours, wi-fi password, breakfast hours, etc). She told us the pool closed at 9pm so I figured we missed it as we checked in about 8.45. Then a few minutes later we were waiting to ask for change for the laundromat and she told another guest that the pool closed at 10pm so I could have had a swim. She then said she had no change for the laundromat and the deli adjacent was closed so we were out of luck. We’d asked about the laundromat at 8.45 but she didn’t mentioned we might need change and that was only from the deli that closed at 9pm. Having been on a road trip for days, the laundromat was the main reason we stayed at this particular hotel so this was really frustrating. She did eventually find change in her drawer so we were able to do our laundry after all. Having got the laundry going my husband wanted to stay with it and I wanted to go back to the room so I asked the receptionist for a second key. She'd given two keys to the other person checking in without him even asking for them. “That will be very awkward” was her response. Talk about being made to feel unwelcome! Although it wasn't just us that were made unwelcome - there were signs everywhere saying not to allow cats in. We didn't see any cats but they sure seemed pretty anti-cats judging by the signage. Dogs welcome presumable. The only positives were that the room was large and spacious and had a microwave/kitchenette and refrigerator. It smelled of smoke though which was horrible. On top of this the bed was like a wobbling marshmallow and I didn't get a good night's sleep. Our worst hotel experience in a 16 day road trip. We avoided using the Shilo chain for the rest of the trip as for $163 this was very poor value and we didn't want to risk our id being declared inadequate again.

Hot tub is boarded up and unusable, pool room is growing green algae like stuff on the ceiling and the ventilation is so bad that water drips from the ceiling and makes the room very hot. The beds are super springy and uncomfortable. Walking through the hallways there is a musky/old smell. There were no towels in our room and when we called to ask no one answered the phoneso we walked to the counter and the lady was playing on her phone. When asking for towels and saying we tried calling she said she couldn't answer the phone because she was on her phone then said when another person got off break they would grab towels. There is no breakfast available as posted on the website either, also the restaraunt is closed, so overall not pleased with our stay. Not worth the price paid compared to other shilo inns that we have stayed at, seemed more like a motel 6 rather than a shilo.

Very old hotel, restaurant is permanently closed, hot tub doesn't work, pool want nice, the whole hotel smells musty and the room we had obviously used to be a smoking room. I would say find another hotel, the staff was really good

You can’t check in because the front desk staff is off cleaning the rooms at 7pm at night. The owner needs to hire some staff for this place. I would never go there ever again. There is no breakfast other than coffee and a prepackaged muffin.

Check in is at 4pm, we checked in at 9pm and the room still wasn’t ready, not sure why. They probably gave our room away. I asked for two queen beds they gave me a king instead. The room and motel stink like cigarettes and something sour n dirty. Also, they do not clean the rooms well, there was nasty hairs all over the tub. Definitely will never be coming back.

Breakfast is a joke. Good beds. Landscaping is terrible. A swimming pool is like being in a cave due to the terrible lighting and water is still what makes me feel strange.

We wanted a safe comfortable place to stay that didn’t cost too much money. The staff was nice the rooms were clean and the AC works!Rooms: Nice large rooms with comfy beds.Nearby activities: Easy to get to the cheese factories or head to the ocean.Safety: Rooms have double locks and you must use your key to get into buildings.

I came to town for the county fair and ended up getting stranded due to my car breaking down and needed an emergency place to stay. Sara went out of her way to make sure I had a place to stay and even helped to ensure I could get back to the fair the next morning. After some of the most stressful and frightening hours of my life Sara showed me immense kindness in my hour of need. Yes the hotel is dated and the rooms could use an update but that's to be expected when staying in a small town. Overall the hotel was perfectly fine and clean, I would stay here again if I were in town again

I wasn’t going to make this review until I checked my bank account and saw extra charges even though I was promised I wouldn’t be charged. Booked this place because it says pet friendly. Checked in fine, went to our room. Went out sightseeing and got a call from the office saying that my cats were not allowed. Had no idea since they say they’re pet friendly and was charged extra even after talking/apologizing to the front office. Also, when I went to plug in my cellphone behind the side table, there was a vibrator sex toy plugged into the socket and I TOUCHED IT not knowing what it was at first. It was not clean. Revolted, I put it in a brown paper bag and took it to the front office where, again, they promised to discount my room due to the nature of the situation. Again, nothing was done and I was charged extra. This isn’t how you run a hotel or any business. The front office staff was very nice but they need to be more observant of their rooms and keep their complaints handled better to avoid these kind of negative reviews.
