This hotel has seen better days. It is major need of updating. While our room was clean, bed and bedding were horrid. Sheets felt like they were bleached to a nice sandpaper-like finish. Highly DO NOT recommend, unless its a last resort. Bonus points for the manager being accommodating.

According to my wife, giving 2 stars is being generous. The hotel is in a nice location and when we checked in the staff were friendly, but unfortunately that’s about as far as the positive experiences go.
The room itself was decent sized, but in state of disrepair. Items around the room, such as the dresser, were broken with large chunks missing. The bathroom door trim looked like it had been patched and painted numerous times. The bed “frames” were merely plywood, making the entire bed very hard and uncomfortable. And the bedding, just nasty. The sheets had several stains on them which make me question how well or frequent they are actually washed.
The amount of signage warning of additional charges was a bit overwhelming. It made us feel like we would be charge for any minor inconvenience the staff experience after we left.
The noise, ugh. Everything was audible. We could hear cars passing in the street like we had a window open. People walking normal outside was like a hammer hitting with each step. I’m not sure what was happening in the room above us either, but sounded like a dance party all night long.
It is an older hotel so I can understand not being perfect, but there were just too many issues for us to have enjoyed the stay.

Hair was still on the sheets and sink from the last people. Had to flip the fitted sheet and pillow cases inside out and sleep with a blanket and towel we had in the car. Location was pretty good as well as the service. The hotel room was a massive disappointment.

Small dog yipping loudly outside our window while it's owner yelled at it. Pretty sure it was local, staff or maintenance, not a guest. Rooms were dingy, wallpaper pulling away, looked neglected. Sink knob came off in wife's hand. No view. Not cheap in price but cheap in amenities.

The rooms are really cute and you can tell a lot of work is going in to the upgrades here. The decor is eye catching, and the room is large and comfortable for the price. There is a mini fridge, small coffee pot and a small table with chairs in the room. The dressers gave a very nice vibe of home away from home for us, and I found them to be a beautiful touch to the decor of the room. The beds are very comfortable a clean smelling, and the a/c is quiet and works great. The shower was clean and everything worked nicely for a comfortable and hot shower. The busy Road next to the Inn quiets down around 10 p.m. and it was very quiet all night and we slept great. The signs and notes on everthing was a bit overwhelming and could be toned down a lot for a cleaner look, but I guess they get the point across. the only con to our stay was at 9:30 a.m. I was reminded by the maintenence man that they were painting the walkway at 11 a.m. , and I felt rushed to leave the Motel before the checkout time of 11 a.m. that we had paid for. We ended up having breakfast in my car at 10 a.m. It was a very negative start for our day, and should have never been an issue. Other than this negative encounter, our experience with the staff was stellar. Would i recommend a stay here? Yes absolutely! I felt safe, secure, and well rested during and after my stay. Is it a 5 star motel? No- but you can see the effort going into upgrades here and we appreciated it!

I’ve stayed here a few times over the years on work trips to the Tillamook area, but this has become a last choice in the region for me. The rooms were passably clean, but the hotel is old. I recall the front desk service not being very friendly at all on one visit. If you’re paying over $100, you’re not getting your money’s worth.

It may not be the best looking but it was very affordable, comfortable and very clean. And it’s pet friendly! The owners are very friendly and accommodating. We visited for a while as our dog played with theirs in their fenced backyard. That was a very generous offer and not required at all. We stayed in one of the updated rooms and it was lovely. It’s old but they’re doing a great job of sprucing it up. No hair dryer but coffee pots, microwave and fridge in room as well as AC units are all a plus. We’ve stayed in lots worse big name places for a lot more money so in my opinion, you can’t go wrong with the Western Royal.

This place was the best sleep
I’ve had in over a week - as we travel across the PNW and stay at hotel after hotel. The price was great and the room was comfortable, best bed I’ve slept in so far on this trip. The kids appreciated the many channels on the TV during our down time. Clean, safe, friendly staff and comfy!

I am so glad my fiancé found this place for our recent vacation. Far enough from hot spots to be affordable (and I'm using that word mildly tbh- you do NOT get prices like this anymore and it was nice for what I expected at their rates) but close enough to be convenient still. There's a petting zoo right next door at a lovely business that is part bar, part café, part gift shop, part grocer, part garden. No breakfast at the motel but they have coffee and items available for purchase in the office, they had extraordinary snapdragons everywhere and Dan and Dennis were particularly personable and pleasant. The room was large and clean. This will be our 101 trip home away from home every time as long as it is this way!

We had a great stay here! It is an older place, but our room was clean, it felt safe, and the couple that checked us in after 10 pm was soooo sweet and personable! I recommend staying here!

I love this place! I have been staying here while working out of town, and it's just right.
It's not fancy, but the rooms have been renovated recently, and are quaint and cozy. The rooms that I've stayed in have a heater/ac, mini fridge, coffee pot, and satellite TV with a bunch of channels. The staff, (hi Lois and Jeannie) are very friendly and laid back. And it's dog friendly! What more could ya ask for?
It's a very central location, close to grocery stores, restaurants, a weed shop, etc. I recommend it as long as you're not high-maintenance. Parking lot looks a lil shady, but it's been a downright pleasant experience here.
Thank you, Western Royal Inn!
