The business owner, JR, had outstanding customer service and worked diligently with me to get a ring/pinion and locker solution for me on my LJ. The shop seemed very honest and communicated very well. I would highly recommend this business for any driveline related needs you may have.

DANGER, DANGERI spoke with JR multiple times, I wanted to make sure that he knew about my type of vehicle and I wanted the best mechanic working on my vehicle, in regards to fixing my Jeep of little issues. I had a chirping in the front end, he had no idea what it was, and my transmission would pause and make a clunking noise once it engaged if you accelerated quickly, he thought it to be electrical. I dropped my car off to him on October 2 and picked up my Jeep on the 11th. During this time period I spoke with JR about 3 times to check on the status of the Jeep. He replaced my rear-end and my driveline saying that they were leaking excessively. I had him replace them. October 11th when I picked up my vehicle the issues I went in for were still there and now I had a very loud humming in my rear-end that he stated was a warped rotor and not to worry about it when it fails to return and he would replace my entire braking system with high performance rotors and brakes. Since I was completely repairing all issues minor or major I took my Jeep in for a 120k maintenance. At this time my rear-end is now making all kinds of noises a metal grinding sound and that humming was really loud. I asked that they look at that as well. Thousands of dollars later in repairs from his bad mechanics I had a rear-end that was not set properly which destroyed the rear-end, a belt that was put on wrong, and may plugs weren't put in properly. I had to replace all his work except for the driveline in which I found out yesterday was also put in in correctly and has cause frontend issues of which is costing another thousand dollars. STAY AWAY from this guy. His work is garbage!!!A follow up to this is: I took him court and got a judgment. I know this was pretty hard to follow. I wrote this review when I was really upset. Honestly, though stay away from this guy. His work is more damaging to say the least and he doesn’t want to be accountable for any of it. Filing and winning my civil case was worth every dime.

Performed work without confirmation, forgot bolts during re-assembly, asked that I return the parts for a refund and then after they were delivered kept nearly 60% of what I paid originally.*Update*After receiving the reply from the owner I reached out privately for clarification.-allegedly Rhom showed him the video so he doesn't have a copy but the thing is I never sent Rhom a video and I have had no interaction with him outside of his shop. I asked what the content of the video was and have received no reply.-allegedly Rhom put in a used differential and made me aware of that - this is not the case. In fact I had to wait for it to come in and was invoiced for a new differential. I asked for evidence of this claim from the owner as this would be fraud on Rhom's part and have not received anything as of yet-my car did feel tighter than before but still had play - when I had the differential repaired at Dynasport they determined the axles still had play, I returned them on that advice-I never claimed the flange was the result of your work, Rhom was the one who came to that conclusion, you told me you didn't remove that part and that was the end of it.*End of update - all other content is from original review*I brought my car in to have 2 axles rebuilt dropping it off before I took a trip out of town. While the car was there they disconnected the exhaust differently than the manufacturer specifies which broke the hardware on that part. When they went to fix my axles they found play in the splines - I missed a call and dialed the back same day within hours but they had already taken it upon themselves to press the splines as a sort of Band-Aid. This car is my forever car, its my baby, I never wanted a Band-Aid fix especially at this cost. Had they contacted me I would have absolutely paid more for replacements instead of a rebuild. After receiving my car I went back to my main shop, a specialist in this make and model, and they found that Automotive Drivetrain had failed to reinstall the 4 bolts that mounted my sway bar to the frame. I contacted John Lehde about this, I was offered no recourse on the missing bolts.A month later having concerns about what felt like remaining play to me another specialist agreed this was still excessive especially on a sports car like this so they suggested replacement. I contacted John and he said he would refund me if I brought the axles they worked on back. Knowing I had this money coming to offset the cost of the new axles I went through with it and then delivered the axles to John as requested. About a week later John explained that he would not be refunding the $916.23 I originally paid but only $382.40 citing both a restocking fee for the axles (never discussed up till now) and apparently still charging me for the flawed labor.

These guys are awesome. I have a 2021 Ram 3500 that I was wanting to put 4.44 gears in. Another shop had my truck for 2 weeks before they told me they couldn't do it (the gear pulley tool has not been made) called these guys they were able to get it done. Another problem came up that yukon gears never said anything about. My carrier didn't fit the 4.44 gears. These guys took the time and figured out the solution. I wouldn't recommend another shop around.

I called them about rebuilding my differential in my 1980 corvette with 3.55 gears. I had called on a Tuesday and my diff was finished by Friday. Absolutely crazy turn around time. When I picked it up I was given clear instructions on the breakin process and service intervals. I reinstalled the diff in the car and thus far have ~700 miles and one track day on it. No leaks or issues.

I broke down on I-5 just south of Portland at about 1:30 p.m. on December 29, 2021. I was driving from Phoenix to Whidbey Island north of Seattle. The carrier bearing on the driveshaft of my 2007 Toyota Tacoma failed and caused a severe vibration. I initially had the truck towed to a AAA approved garage but it was soon apparent that this repair was something they wouldn't be able to do. The mounting tabs for the carrier bearing had cracked due to the vibration and would need to be welded. The following morning I had the truck towed to Automotive Drivetrain in Tualatin after researching repair shops in the Portland metro area online as I sat in my hotel room. I spoke with JR, who is the owner, and he explained that they had a big backlog of work and that parts availability is bad right now, but he would see what they could do. I got in my rental car and headed off to a nearby McDonalds for some breakfast and free wifi. I came back about 1 1/2 hours later to see that the Tacoma was not outside but rather in the shop, and they already had the driveline out of it. They replaced all the u-joints with new Spicer's, installed a new carrier bearing and welded the broken carrier bearing mount tabs. Derrick was the mechanic that did the repair and these guys are really top notch!!! I could have easily been stuck in Portland for days with the New Year holiday & weekend right around the corner. I was on the road by 2:30 p.m. and made it up to the Naval Air Station on Whidbey Island in time to join my son for dinner. I can't say enough good things about Automotive Drivetrain! They knew I was in a tough spot and they made my job a priority to get me back on the road.Service: General repairs & maintenance

I work as a documentary photographer along a remote stretch of the US-Mexico border, so needless to say having a reliable off-road vehicle is a must. I came into Automotive Drivetrain in August to have an SYE kit and custom driveshaft installed on my 2001 Cherokee XJ after rebuilding my suspension system. The entire team at Automotive Drivetrain was kind, professional and courteous. Ended up having my differential rebuilt and new axles installed at the rear end based on their expert advise. I will be coming back in 2022 to rebuild my front diff and axles! Absolutely top of the line service!
