About Oregon Dog Rescue
Oregon Dog Rescue is a no-kill shelter and non-profit in the greater Portland area devoted to placing dogs in the best homes. It is apparent that the welfare of dogs is a top priority for this group. The facility on Macadam Avenue is modern and clean. The staff are friendly, hardworking people who have a deep love and respect for dogs. You can tell the workers there care about the dogs and try to give them a lot of attention. They have walk-in appointments for adoption, which is nice, though appointments are needed to see any specific dog. They give you a lot of time to be with and interact with the dog, and treats are provided to encourage positive experiences. Dogs get adopted quickly, which is great for the pups. The organization works to make good matches between dogs and adopters. Some reviewers note considerations. The health of the dogs is something to consider; most of them seem to have kennel cough and they do not test for heartworm, though they do provide medical care and spay and neuter. Another reviewer felt staff did not always accurately communicate a dog's temperament, sharing an experience with a dog that displayed unexpected reactivity. However, many adopters report wonderful matches and express gratitude, describing their adopted dogs as sweet, perfect, and well taken care of by the rescue.

Compassion, empathy, and knowledge of K-9 behavior. This rescue does everything to ensure the dogs are matched with a suitable home. Staffed by diehard animal lovers. Supported by a community. This should be a model for animal care across the nation.
