My husband and I are in our yearly Oregon coast trip. We keep driving until we feel like it’s time to stop and book as we go. We didn’t realize we planned for a holiday weekend this year (Veterans Day). The time came to book and we quickly realized all places were sold out due to the holiday. Martha was so kind when we called and had a room or two left. We got there around 6 and she was so sweet, gave us all the details, recommend where to eat and had a nice chat with us. Our stay was perfect. We will keep this bookmarked for next years trip :)

This place was absolutely amazing!! The owners were so welcoming and gave us great recommendations in the area. The room was extremely clean and the beds were SO comfy!!! They clearly put a lot of attention and care into making this place great. Exceeded every expectation!

This is one of the best places I've been on the coast. It's a charmingly small place with a beautiful garden and wonderful views of the sunset. We stayed in the Sunset room. Deck with chairs, an easy walk to the smoking area. A grill, a quirky jetted tub and shower (which they fully explain). Games on loan for kids and adults.
The rooms are immaculate, if not a bit small, so pack light. There isn't a closet or even drawers to store clothes, but there's a couple of hangers in the toilet area to hang some clothes. The DVD library is pretty impressive and you can take as many as you think you can watch.
It was a little strange to take your breakfast to go in a picnic basket the night before, but turned out to be very convenient as we left early. (apparently they provide a different continental breakfast for those going on a fishing excursion).
We only met the Mr. Owner, but he was delightful, real, and pretty funny. Could have talked with him all day.
That bed! It was so soft that you could sink into it, but you still had support. Probably the most comfy bed I've ever found at any hotel/motel. I will absolutely stay here again!

We had an awesome stay! Staff friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable. The kids had fun playing on the dock and we were all enjoyed the movies and the games they supplied.

I picked Wheeler Lodge on a total whim — just stabbing at the map for “halfway.” What a lucky break. We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite and it felt like discovering a secret hideout for grown-ups who still like to play.
Gordon, the owner, is hilarious and genuinely thoughtful. Instead of the sad motel “breakfast” with powdered eggs at whatever time suits them, he packs you a picnic breakfast so you can eat wherever and whenever you want — because this is your time. The deck looks right out over the river; a steam train goes by; Wheeler itself is adorable and everyone waves. You end up meeting the other guests on the private dock and making fast friends. You can literally fish for salmon 500 feet from your room.
We never turned on the TV, but the CD collection is so well-curated it was tempting. This place is personal, funny, and full of small, thoughtful touches — the kind of stay that reminds you why independent lodges beat cookie-cutter hotels every time.

We were looking for a place to stay near the Oregon Coast and in our search stumbled upon Wheeler on the Bay. We stayed in Room 7 and it was very clean and cozy with a comfortable bed. We enjoyed morning coffees and watching the sunset on the deck- and as two people from Ohio we were overjoyed watching the otters swim in the bay and seeing pelicans and herons hunting for their supper. We appreciated the breakfast items and extra snacks/popcorn and loved the nostalgia of the dvd library as it made us feel like kids again going to Blockbuster. We got a chance to talk to the owner on a few occasions and he made us feel right at home. It seems like many places charge more and give you less but wheeler on the bay doesn’t subscribe to that. The location was great for everything we wanted to see and do and we truly felt like we had found a hidden gem!

How dare you tell a young man, soon to be a father, that is looking for a job that he should get a vasectomy! What are you thinking? I would never stay in your establishment after hearing this. My husband and I were looking to visit and actually had this place in mind until we heard about this distasteful comment. Do better and treat people in your community better.

This is our favorite place to getaway. Bonus is you can moore your boat at the dock. Nice cutting and cleaning station for your fish. Great fishing 🎣 wonderful rooms, and the most beautiful view! Couple friendly, and kid friendly rooms aswell. The owners and other staff are so helpful, and friendly. Highly recommend 👌

Very throw-back, quaint inn directly on the river. The room #7 was incredibly clean. View from deck was peaceful, and we loved watching the boats and wildlife. Bed was super comfortable. We would stay again if we're ever down that way again!

This was a great place to stay on our 2-day trip on the coast. Originally, we were supposed to stay in the Rockaway area, but they were all booked. We had to go back 7 miles to this cozy, lovely hotel, and the best part about it was. Ed had a jacuzzi in the room.

Five of us ladies drove up from Florence and stayed at Wheeler on the Bay. We had the large room upstairs and it was just perfect for our group. Martha, who checked us in, was welcoming, friendly, hospitable, and FUN! Her husband, Gordon, also showed us where the goodies were to take to our room. The weather was absolutely spectacular and we sat down on the way and enjoyed the beautiful sunset. We drove up to ride the rails, which is just down the street and we had a great time doing that!

My wife and I went here for our anniversary and were very happy and impressed with Wheeler on the Bay. It’s hard to describe exactly how, but when we were checked in and got to our room it really felt like we were honored guests. All hotels know how to go through the motions of making you feel welcome, but Wheeler on the Bay stands out because it really felt like every item, every choice or decoration in the room was really chosen with love and care and in hopes of truly making us feel welcome. The breakfast was definitely not like I had had at a hotel before but I actually think it’s a very nice way to do it. There’s lots of movies to pick from and a coffee maker in the room and on the last morning we took out their complementary kayaks on the bay. The management is also as friendly and authentic as the rooms.
I am planning to recommend this place to anyone I know headed to the coast.

Wheeler on the Bay Lodge was perfect for the rest, relaxation, and adventuring we were looking for. The grounds were beautiful with an abundance of flowers and seating areas to enjoy the view of the river and bay. Added touches like free kayak use and self-chosen breakfast boxes made the stay even better. The room was comfortable and had everything we needed. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again.
