For the price we were very happy with the Howard Johnson hotel in Allentown. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, rooms are nice and they have an indoor pool and hot tub.

I don’t usually write reviews, but this hotel is just not worth your money, keep driving. The manager was very nice, I don’t know if they just don’t have enough staff or the housekeeping staff has poor eyesight and no sense of smell, but there was basically no attempt to clean my room. I do think the sheets and towels were changed, but there was soap scum all over the sink, dust in every corner, toothpaste on the walls, a stray cashew on the floor. I was able to get the sink a lot cleaner just with the water and soap provided so I know that no one tried to clean it in the week or two before I got there. The hallways smell terrible, kind of sour like a skunk (not weed). The walls are very thin, I heard other guests yelling all night and then the staff speaking very loudly and slamming doors early in the morning. I got out of there as quickly as I could.

Great spacious room for anyone traveling with pets.
Rooms: Room was spacious and clean. Only thing we missed was a coffee machine in room. Coffee was available anytime in the lobby though

Stayed here with family. I'm shocked at how nasty this place is. The exterior door locks didn't work, and anyone could come and go..guest or not. The door locks in our room were also broken.
Safety: Not safe

Worst "hotel" I've ever been to. I say this as a hospitality professional who worked in the industry a long time. This place is absolutely disgusting. Im surprised it is even attached to a brand. I'll be avoiding Wyndham entirely based on this experience.
Please do not waste your time, effort, and money staying here....a family member picked this without my knowing, and if it weren't for the longest trip ever and how late it was, I would've just left. The first room smelled like animal urine/wet dog, and the 2nd floor hallway smiled of (VERY strong!) baby poop/diapers.. There were dogs barking loudly. I went to the front and told the manager about the issues with the room, and he didn't even say anything other than "gimme" and did a hand gesture for my keys.
The second room was a few doors down from the other. I wouldn't even trust taking my shoes off in the room. The first thing we did was inspect the room for bedbugs... instead, we found used condom wrappers under the side of the bed.. Nothing is clean...all towels are stained and / or falling apart. The shower was filthy, and there were dirt smudges and hair all over the wall. Burn holes in all the bedding.
*Big safety issues*
The exterior doors on the bottom floor leading to guest rooms are unlocked for anyone off the street to come in. In the morning, to confirm this, i tried them, and they were all unlocked to the public. There are lots of sketchy folks at the side door going in and out.
Door locks were broken. (Picture included)
If you have to worry about this many issues when staying somewhere to rest... do not stay here. This place is not worth your time, energy, or money.
I can not believe this is still open.
Noteworthy details: Disgusting. DO. NOT. STAY. HERE.

Thankfully my children were too young to recognize how awful the hotel was because they had such fun at Dorney Park (amusement park) across the street. My wife and I will never forget the disgusting conditions that we stayed in for two nights. If you have to strongly consider whether the bed that you are about to sleep in is infested with lice or bedbugs, that is an awful hotel. I would never even consider staying at another Howard Johnson and/or Wyndham hotel.
The property was absolutely disgusting. Everything was filthy: the bedroom, the bathroom, the hallways, the pool, even the elevator was appallingly dirty.
The state of the hotel was so bad that we would not even consider eating food provided by the hotel. I would not let my family eat the breakfast provided in the lobby and we had to eat at local restaurants for breakfast instead.
The room key demagnetized with every use. Had to stop at the front desk multiple times each day to have the card rekeyed.
The vibe of the hotel was that they were not attempting to even consider repeat business. This was a place to stay out of desperation and you would never consider extending your stay or staying there a second time. They had your money locked in by booking online so that there was no backing out once you saw the conditions of the hotel. It will be a scarring memory of Howard Johnson and Wyndham.
Rooms: The rooms were awful, there were scuff marks all over the walls. There was minimal furniture in the room, just throw your luggage on the floor and walk it around it for the length of your stay. The toilet/bathroom were disgusting. There were stains all over the tub. There were burn marks on the bedding. Paint stains on the couch. The curtain rod was too short for the bathtub and it just had two pieces of plywood screwed into the wall to hold it in place at each end. There was a filthy plunger next to the toilet.

We had bugs in our room! There wasn’t a coffee pot in the room and the lamp on the desk didn’t work. The hallway smelled strongly of marijuana! It was a crappy place! The breakfast was only bread items, so for someone like me that can’t have gluten, I didn’t get any breakfast.

This is a hotel where you sleep on top of the bed and wash your clothes when you leave. Bed was alright, pool the water looked dirty. The ladder in the pool was broken, keep your shoes when walking around. Great location to dorney park, little bridge connecting to Perkins. Would not eat breakfast here. Would not stay again.

The people were wonderful and I hate to criticize but the pool and spa area could use a good scrubbing. Sorry
