Recently had a weekend stay at this Microtel. The location is good, parking was more than adequate, desk service help was attentive to our needs, even with a reservation issue that was resolved. The room was efficiently laid out, of a good size with their trademark windows seat, a decent bathroom arrangement (sufficient water pressure and a fan), and overall met our needs. The breakfast included egg omelets, sausage, biscuits and gravy, along with cereal and fruit. High marks were given for the fresh baggels and pretty good coffee which came out of a machine. Our only issues were electrical plugs for charging our devices were loose and had intermittent contact. Overall, a good stay and a pleasant value.

First off, what a room. Very nice. Nice up keep of the grounds outside given the nature this hotel is kind of in a slummy city.. Chucc, the desk manager at my time of arrival was nothing less than phenomenal. In my time of he was able to hook me up with a room that I as an individual could live in! Thanks Chucc and thank you

Bed bugs found 7/17… room 412. Told management hopefully they can fix this problem!!! Otherwise front desk staff has been accommodating but this is absolutely unacceptable.

Staff is excellent. Justin, Chuck, and everyone else I talked with were not only friendly but helpful and focused on the guests. Housekeeping was excellent as well. You don't see that often at a mid-range hotel. They were very guest-focused. Thanks all!Rooms: Rooms were better than most. Outlets, hot water, cleanliness, and room layout were quite a bit better than average.Nearby activities: Horseshoe Curve, Railroaders Museum, Downtown, and decent shopping are available in a short drive. Location is good.

Stayed as a couple for two nights. The room and the hotel were pretty clean and tidy. The service was good and the staff were nice. There is a large parking and it is free. The breakfast is also free though with very small variety. I recommend the hotel for those visiting Altoona or State College.

I wish I could say 5 stars, I really really do, but after my last (and final) stay here, I gotta call it what it is.So I was a regular here (bimonthly trips to visit family) and always paid up to get a Suite. The last few times I stayed, the Front Desk Agents were awesome. Super kind, fun to talk to, and very accommodating.I've thought for awhile now about whether or not to write this review, but now that we're booking our return visit to Altoona, I was reminded of our last stay experience and promptly decided to change our hotel altogether, opting to not return to the Microtel :(Apparently, something changed in the months prior to our last visit. My last stay, the girl who checked my wife and I in was spectacular, however the agent that worked the last two days was absolutely horrible. She was lazy, unkind, and pretty much incompetent, and kept making up excuse after excuse and giving problem after problem over trivial things.Firstly, we got food poisoning and were sick most of the stay. I have a 1 year old child. We were told - not asked, TOLD - to "quiet him down", meanwhile, the same agent literally allowed people to scream in the lobby. We specifically asked for a room away from stairs and elevator, second floor. They put us RIGHT next to the stairs, first floor, in a room lacking basic items, with water still in the tub.We asked FOUR different times for garbage bags - she never brought them.My wife also ran into an issue with the night auditor, who apparently told her that she was not a guest at the hotel and refused to let her back into our room where my son and I were sleeping. She had gone outside for a cigarette, her card deactivated, and she had to literally beg the agent at the front to let her back in despite having all the proof she needed. We specifically asked for (and have ALWAYS received) a late check out (12pm). At 1030 and 1051am, the agent called us twice TELLING us we had to check out. I went up to the desk and stated "we requested late check out" to which she told me - verbatim: "No you didn't. We don't allow late check out." I asked how late we could stay, because my son had JUST woke up, and she said "11 is check out". I ONCE AGAIN asked for a bag for garbage, to which she said she'd bring one down, and she never did.As a result, we left our room with a bunch of trash lying about, which I HATE to do. We normally fold our blankets and whatnot to make it easier for house keeping, but her rushing us out the door resulted in us leaving in a hurry, so the room was essentially trashed. We were embarrassed by this - if any housekeepers read this, I am SO SO sorry for that. Blame your front desk agent.I worked in Hospitality as an Agent and Supervisor for 7 years (Marriott & Holiday Inn) so I KNOW there are stressful elements to the job, but the way she handled our situation was simply unacceptable. She did not do anything that I would deem okay or accept if she were my employee. As a result, I am not risking the same quality of stay. We have changed our preferred hotel, and that'll be the end of it.Just be wary, anybody else considering staying, that MOST of the agents and staff at Microtel are awesome, but I personally practice the philosophy of "you are only as strong as your weakest link", and in this case, the weakest link broke the chain.Housekeeping - 5 Stars. Awesome. Love you guys.

The staff was very accomodating for our large group. We were able to come back to clean rooms and plenty of towels every night during the 3 night stay. A shout out to Laura getting the breakfast out a little early on Saturday morning.

Stayed for a few nights to spend time with family. Place was very clean, staff very friendly, property appearances were very welcoming, rooms were very nice for the price.I would definitely return again to stay here the next time we go back to Altoona.

Stayed here for Super Bowl weekend. Checked in on Saturday and left Monday morning. Hotel is very clean, staff is all friendly and they’re pet friendly. 1 reason I choose this hotel. My only complaint is I had to have the front desk re-program my door key twice. Once when I went to the store and other taking the dog outside.Besides that. This is a great hotel and will stay here again if I’m ever back in the area.

The rooms were greater than expected. This was our first time ever staying at Microtel. Everything was kept clean and neat. The location was kind of not near anything. You would have to drive or order in for food. Sheetz was caddy corner from the Microtel. The staff was phenomenal and was very helpful and accommodating with our son's allergies to the feathered pillows.

Went for a one night stay with a 12 and 4 year old as a winter getaway to use the pool as much as anything. Room was clean, staff friendly, pool was comfortable, and breakfast was nice. Overall very satisfied with the stay.
