Why have self checkouts if you’re not going to have them in use?

DG is a strange shopping experience but I have stopped in for a quick item a couple times and they had what I needed and were easy enough to deal with -

All workers barely want to actually tend customers. There usually in the back of the store. Constantly says the register is down just so your forced to use self check out. There great for watching/hovering over customers.
