For several years before turning 71 this May, I considered going to a trainer to improve my strength and fitness. But hearing of bad experiences from friends and acquaintances made me hesitate. Common complaints were trainers who lacked knowledge of exercise physiology, did not explain why certain exercises were performed, did not customize workouts, or consider the goals and initial fitness status of the client.Based on the enthusiastic recommendation of my son, I took advantage of a free session and evaluation at Vertex Fitness in April of 2023. I was deeply impressed with Dwayne Wimmer’s thoroughness in evaluating my needs and outlining a workout regimen to address them. After four months of three 30-minute sessions a week, my strength and endurance are greatly improved.Dwayne’s workouts are highly efficient. He leads you through exercises with a focus on proper form to achieve the greatest benefit and avoid injury. Dwayne emphasizes that the purpose of the workouts is not to achieve the same result for everyone, but rather the best result in the context of each client’s individual potential. For those seeking one-on-one, focused, efficient strength training, I strongly recommend Dwayne Wimmer and Vertex fitness.

I’m 67 and have had multiple spine surgeries and both rotator cuffs repaired. As a two sport former college athlete I had almost given up playing squash and tennis and then a friend told me about Dwayne at Vertex. I have dealt with dozens of coaches, physical therapists, and sports med doctors and NOT ONE OF THEM has delivered the results that Dwayne has over the last 9 months. Hi highly recommend Vertex Fitness for anyone who is interested in getting the most out of their personal training sessions. Dwayne is very professional and an excellent teacher. In every session, I feel like I am getting the most out of my workouts. The exercises are very focused and are designed to maximize the efficiency of each workout. After 3 months, I have noticed improvement in my strength and flexibility, and am encouraged by the results!

Great one on one training. I have been going to Vertex since July 2015. The programs are specialized to your needs. The trainers focus on technique, then gradually add more weight. The training has been a good outlet for me during current times. I highly recommend trying Vertex out. You will not be disappointed.

I have been working with Dwayne for almost 20 years. He was the first trainer I found who was able to work around old injuries and keep me sound and fit while putting off double knee replacement. After the surgery, he was sensitive to my pain ( and my anxieties about working the new joints) and led me back to full use, and again the following year after I had shoulder repair.

Dwayne is a fantastic teacher and personal trainer! He focuses all of his attention on making sure his clients get a challenging and effective, yet safe, strength building session each time. He listens, answers questions and explains his techniques and philosophy. My husband and I really enjoy our twice weekly appointments - we're learning, building strength and being proactive with our health. I highly recommend Dwayne and Vertex Fitness!

I've been strength training at Vertex for over 6 weeks now. Training sessions are focused and very productive - it's an efficient and effective workout. Dwayne is attentive to form, which gives me confidence that I can work hard and gain strength but with no risk of injury. His coaching style is a nice mix of challenge and encouragement, but always with a focus on doing the exercise the right way. My wife and I both really enjoy it. Give it a try!

I started working out with Dwayne over two years ago. When I began, I was very concerned about injury working out with such heavy weights. I found that I work harder and more efficiently with Dwayne than with anyone else. I have never been injured. Dwayne is always focused on you and your form. He is very concerned with detail, accuracy and safety.

Let me begin my review by saying that I had never done any type of strength training before. I have been working with Dwayne Wimmer for a little over a month and the results have been great. Dwayne is a very experienced, knowledgeable professional. He is a great motivator and teaches specific techniques on how to get the most out of each individual exercise, targeting and isolating specific muscle groups. I highly recommend Vertex Fitness.
