GameStop serves as a home base for gamers, offering new and used video games, consoles, controllers, and accessories for all major systems, including retro gaming. It also carries trading cards and a wide variety of gaming, anime, and pop culture merchandise like collectibles, apparel, and board games. Customers can sell or trade in old games, consoles, and phones for cash or store credit, with the store now also buying PSA graded collectibles. Experiences at individual locations can vary. Some customers report very positive interactions, describing employees as super nice, helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, and prompt, with service that goes above and beyond. These visits result in quick, efficient transactions and overall positive experiences. However, other reviews note challenges. Some stores are described as having a very small selection, being usually very cluttered, or having shipment not put out. The stores can feel over crowded, and transactions may be slow due to upselling practices. Some locations appear to have very high turnover and seem understaffed, often operating with single coverage even on peak days, which can impact service. Despite these inconsistencies, many customers remain grateful for the helpful service they receive and plan to return.
