Hotel Anthracite is a contemporary and cozy boutique hotel located on the main drag in Carbondale, a sleepy small town. Guests describe it as a refreshing alternative to chain hotels, with incredibly clean, well-kept, and spacious rooms. The décor throughout is modern and the beds are very comfortable. The staff receives consistent praise, noted as excellent, efficient, very friendly, and knowledgeable. The check-in and check-out process is a breeze. The on-site Kol restaurant offers excellent food described as prompt, correct, well-seasoned, and served hot, with terrific service and a nice ambiance featuring a fireplace. The beer is served ice cold. A small continental breakfast is simple but well done, with good coffee. The hotel provides a very nice, clean, and well-kept gym. A YMCA day pass for pool and sauna access is also available a short walk away. Parking is ample and undercover. The location is convenient, with small shops and eateries close by. A notable drawback for some guests is the lack of local TV channels, relying instead on streaming via Apple TV, which can suffer from intermittent internet connection and buffering. On one occasion, the restaurant also closed earlier than expected. Despite these points, the overall experience is often extremely pleasant, with many guests recommending it for the area.
Just a super hotel with a great and caring staff. The restaurant always does a great job also.
