Giant Food Distribution Center has mixed reviews from its visitors. Many drivers appreciate the fast service, often receiving dock assignments shortly after checking in. For example, one driver checked in at 7 AM for a 9 AM appointment and was unloaded by 8:30 AM. Others reported similar experiences, noting quick processing times, with some being unloaded within an hour of arrival. However, a significant issue mentioned is the lumper fee payment process. Drivers find it inconvenient that payments can only be made in cash or via comcheck, with no electronic payment options available. The manual receipt system is also criticized, as some brokers reject handwritten receipts. Parking availability is another concern, as the lot fills up quickly and the live load staging area is used for trailer storage. Despite these challenges, the staff, including lumper workers and security, received some positive remarks for their friendliness. Overall, while the unloading process is efficient, the payment method and parking situation can be frustrating for drivers.
Issue here is paying lumper fee. They have no standard and come up with any figure. Paying is a hassle i simply don't understand in this age how they have no electronic link to make payment and they write a receipt by hand which some brokers reject. Also they expect you to bring cash!! To pay.
