Bad day made worse by desensitized, unprofessional staff. We made the impossible decision and took our beloved 15 year old dog to this clinic for euthanasia. While we were holding him in his last moments and saying goodbye, the vet tech asked how we wanted to pay for the service. If they had simply checked with the front receptionist, they would have known it was already paid for the minute we stepped inside the building. We were not walk-ins. We were established customers with a scheduled appointment. After installing the catheter, the vet tech asked if we needed more time or if they should get the vet right away. We said we’d like to see the vet. Our sick dog was very clearly anxious and upset. It then took about 10 more minutes for the vet to come into the room, adding much more undue stress for our dog. The vet lacked empathy and was incredibly cold hearted throughout the entire process. There are moments in life that you don’t get to redo. This was one of them.I will make sure family and friends don’t go through the same traumatic experience with their animals. Take your beloved animals elsewhere.

Between July 2022 and July 2023 we had 4 visits to the Holly Pike Animal Hospital. The first one was very good. The vet seemed genuinely concerned about the best interests of our, then, 14 year old dog. That vet also listened to our concerns and was very receptive to them. Unfortunately, the next 3 visits were not that way with a different vet. That vet was very snarky and unprofessional. We waited in the exam room for a long time while our sick dog became increasingly upset. While giving us a devastating diagnosis about our dog, this second vet was impatient, unkind, insensitive and lacking in compassion. Vets are expected to handle many different pet and pet owner personalities. Our dog was a member of our family. Our 4th visit was one of the saddest days of our lives. We brought our buddy in to be euthanized. When we arrived, I handed the receptionist a check for the amount she told me over the phone. This was not communicated to other staff members. We were asked in the exam room how we intended to pay for the services prior to any care being given to our “baby.” Once again, during this visit, the second vet was unkind and insensitive - very consistent. If your pet is part of your family, don’t expect understanding. Finally, 2 weeks after we left our buddy to be cremated, we called for information about his remains and were told we would be called back. We were not. A very difficult time that could’ve been handled much differently.

I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about HP and all the staff, especially Dr. Nelson. They take their time in examining my cats, speak from professional and personal experiences, and try their best to squeeze my babies in when they are sick.

We stopped in with our dog who was having horrible seizures...the woman who came out was rude. Our dogs in my husband's arms unable to stop seizing..me crying asking for help and she says "we are closed that door should of been locked" while customers are still there and then she said you need to leave and find another vet. No offer to help our dog who clearly was in distress. Had to drive 25 minutes ro another vet while our dog still was in end of life trauma. We get to other vet and they give him a shot immediately to comfort him..she could of offered that...she could of helped.. our vet was closed but I would never let that woman with no heart touch my animals.

They get snarky as if you don’t know what you’re talking about or what your dog needs. My dog got attacked by another dog that was unleashed and had an inch deep wound on her and all they gave me was rimadyl no antibiotics no advice on how to clean the wound that was oozing because my dog would not let me touch it. I highly recommend going elsewhere. Two and a half days of arguing with vets then I finally found a place that would give me an antibiotic for her and within three hours of her first dose I was able to clean it and she didn’t even jump or snip at me. It’s amazing what listening to a dog owner can do for the dog. You get paid to take care of animals DO BETTER. Rossmoyne emergency vet in mechanicsburg, Pa for the WIN. Just thought I’d share what I’ve gone through at this place. Will not return to this place.

We love Holly Pike Animal Hospital. Doctors, techs, and staff are friendly, kind, and caring. They are compassionate with our pets. It's reasonably priced as well. It's small but gives you that one on one and a more personal feel. Not just another pet.

My poor beagle sounded like a goose (coughing), sneezing, ear yeast & all over blah. He had an upper respiratory infection. In 2 days he was back to himself. Thanks to the vet & staff. She was extremely busy that day, and kept us informed. God Bless.
