Such an amazing experience getting my daughter’s ears pierced! The shop was very clean and welcoming, and Kate made her comfortable throughout the process. They explained everything clearly, worked quickly and professionally, and the piercings turned out perfect. My daughter left smiling and so impressed with the care and attention to detail.

This is our second visit to see Amanda for a piercing. She is just wonderful and makes you feel at ease. The best part is how warm/ cozy but totally clean and sterile everything is. If you need a piercing there's no one else in the greater Pittsburgh area I'd recommend more!

Got my septum pierced as a walk in kinda last minute and they were so kind and accommodating even though I’m a big baby! They did the piercing fabulously and really were well educated. Definitely will be a returning customer.

Alter Ego is an absolute gem. Every experience I’ve had here has been nothing short of amazing. Jess is the one who tattoos me. Amanda and Kate have pierced me, my daughter and A LOT of our friends. Everyone is incredibly talented, professional, and genuinely kind humans. They make you feel comfortable, seen, and celebrated whether you’re getting a piercing or a new piece of ink.
The vibe in the shop is creative, welcoming and full of good energy. You can tell that all the artists here truly care about their craft and the people they’re working with. I’m always blown away by the quality of the work and the level of care that goes into every detail.
If you’re looking for a studio that feels like both an art space and a safe haven, Alter Ego is it. Forever grateful to have found this place and these amazing artists

THANK YOU GUYS for having a shop that always makes me feel so comfortable every time i step inside. It smells good, it has beautiful decor and aesthetics (i especially love the coffin shelves and pin striped walls), and the artists and piercers here are such kind people!!! I am going to go out on a limb and say if you are in the upper st clair bethel park mt lebanon surrounding area, PERHAPS EVEN ALL OF PITTSBURGH, this is the best piercing/tattoo shop you could go to. These people take their jobs seriously. They want to see your ID. They wear gloves and masks. They use sterile tools. And even though they take their jobs seriously, they are still so so kind and respectful. I want to give a special shoutout to Kaetlin (hope im spelling it right!) who did my snakebites and septum. Kaetlin is calm, collected, and thorough while also being down to earth. I haven't gotten a tattoo from them yet so I can't speak from that aspect, but I can say next time I do I would go with alter ego. Thank you guys for being a serious gem!!

Thinking about a conch piercing? THIS IS YOUR SIGN!
Amanda was set up at a local event over the weekend, and not only was the cost for a piercing perfectly priced, but the jewelry selection was STUNNING!
Decided to get my conch pierced, and Amanda explained how jewelry would sit if I changed from a stud to a hoop (after healing of course) and worked with me to find the ideal location. The piercing was smooth and painless..honestly a 0/10 or 1/10 for pain level.
Patient and knowledgeable piercer than not only makes the experience fun and safe, but you leave feeling confident and with their support during the healing process!

Best experience I've had getting piercings. Was petrified to get my nose piercing, they were very accommodating and made it super quick. It fell out a couple weeks later and they were able to get me jewelry that fits better ASAP. They make recommendations but leave the decision up to you, which is amazing, as I find other places can be pushy. Two years later I needed it reopened and experience was super smooth.
Cartilage piercing was also a breeze!

Got matching tattoos yesterday with a buddy of mine and it was beyond amazing. Adam did such an amazing job on it, brought our idea to life better then we could even imagine. The whole shop/staff are very welcoming and just an awesome group of people. 10/10 would recommend to anyone that wants amazing work done!
