Shockingly Overpriced and Unresponsive
In September, I brought my 2018 VW Golf Alltrack SE (6-speed manual, about 51k miles, owned since new, garage-kept and dealer-serviced) to Fred Beans VW of Devon for diagnosis of an intermittent clutch issue.
The next day, I received an automated text recommending three repairs for a total estimate of over $10,000, with no explanation of how it could possibly cost that much. I declined the repairs and picked the car up that evening after paying nearly $200 for the diagnostic.
After several requests for a detailed breakdown of parts and labor, I was eventually sent only a parts list. Upon review, I found the parts were priced far above VW’s own list prices. After backing out the inflated parts cost, the estimate also appeared to include nearly 30 hours of labor for a job that typically books at about 6–7 hours.
The car was sold with a 6-year/72k-mile warranty and only had about 51k miles, yet no one suggested contacting VW to explore goodwill assistance — something many dealers will at least consider.
I emailed the service manager asking why the estimate was so inflated. Weeks later, I am still waiting for a response. In the meantime, I replaced two O-rings on the clutch bleeder valve and bled the system myself. The car has been fine since, and it has now been over three months.
Bottom line: grossly overpriced, poor communication, and no effort to help a loyal customer. I won’t be returning.
P.S. Notice the response only addresses the fact that no warranty applies and is silent on the fact that the estimate was 3x what would be reasonable.

Our experience was completely positive from time of entering the dealership until the 20,000 mile service maintenance was completed. Everyone we dealt with was competent, pleasant and professional. We highly recommend Fred Beans Volkswagen of Devon.

Overall great experience. My wife and I drove two hours to come see a used Audi SQ5 that I found on Carfax. Prior to making the drive up I spoke with a sales rep named Eddie about the vehicle Eddie did an excellent job answering my questions and confirming the overall condition of the vehicle. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly staff and immediately got with Eddie. Road tested the Audi and decided it was exactly what we were looking for. Decided to go forward with thepurchase of the SQ5 at that point. The process was smooth and we are completely satisfied with our experience and vehicle that we purchased from Fred Beans VW Devon. To top it all off as we were leaving we were given a can of Fred’s Baked Beans that we will be serving with Thanksgiving dinner this week! Thanks again to the team at Fred Beans VW Devon. Our sales rep Eddie, Caitlin in finance and the GM BJ for creating a positive buying experience.

Bought a car from them with a warranty turns out the warranty doesn't cover much if anything spent 18k on a car for it to have issues within a few months. Do not buy the extended triton basic warranty you have issues with gaskets or seals or anything slightly major you might be out a good bit of money. would have been better saving the money and not buying the warranty.

Really friendly folks and fast service! I Recently had my Golf R inspected at Fred Beans in Devon. I always feel good about having factory techs work on my car. Unfortunately, there was a bubble in one of my tires which would have made me fail inspection, but they happened to have replacement tires in-stock, so I was in and out in no time! Ed and his team had me back on the road fast and I felt safer knowing my tires were in good shape. Definitely recommend getting your VW serviced at FB Devon!

Very pleased with entire vehicle purchase process from initial contact through document signing. Never felt pressured to make a decision or pushed to make a purchase. Wow! Let me just tell you I would never go to any other dealer again!!! The hospitality and expedited treatment was like no other. Chris Gardiner was an excellent salesman and would recommend him 100x over. To put the cherry on top the Finance manager Hezekiah was top notch in getting everything squared away!

Where do I even begin? It started with me sending a quick email in regards to a car that I was just looking at and not intending to buy, just looking at. In the email I stated that the car was for my 17-year-old son , I immediately, received an email back from Christopher Gardiner stating that he understands my concerns about the safety of the car and continued to address my son Jadyn. From that very first email trust was built which intern prompted me to drive to the dealership that day and meet with Chris. Christopher was nothing but cordial, polite, knowledgeable, respectful, and honest, I felt everything was on the up and up, which made me feel safe and I didn’t need to look any further for a car for my son Jadyn. I knew he had my son‘s best interest at heart and he wouldn’t steer me wrong, I felt that. Chris understood where I was coming from as a mother putting her 17-year-old son into a car for the first time and how safety was of the utmost importance . Walked in that day strangers, but left as family.
He even reached out days later to see how my son‘s birthday party went! I’m so impressed with him. Fred Beans Volkswagen is very lucky to have him on their team! I mean that.

Went to dealership recently to test drive ID4. Their customer service is very good and sales representatives actually spends time with you to make your visit worthwhile. Unfortunately we couldn’t work out the deal but I would highly recommend them based on their customer service to visit them once if you are in the market for a car.
