If you are doing something for the first time DO NOT GO THERE , no one will help , you are supposed to know everything on your own or you will be treated as a stupid person. rude and arrogant service.
I am hoping and praying to god to make your life difficult like you made mine today just trying to renew a passport.
Zero stars

ZERO STAR Passport Fiasco. This is a Third World operation. Our appointments were ignored…the staff member was rude and totally incompetent…the expediency fee was a total waste as the Department of State received my application EIGHT DAYS later. They (DoS) have a cute disclaimer that the expedited service only kick in once they receive the application from the USPS. By the way…I’m leaving out the ugly details to not paint a negative picture. Do yourself the favor and drive to Parkesburg. There is an intelligent, competent and professional young man who SERVES his customers.

Front desk woman working here at 11am 6/3/2024 was throwing packages (there was no reason to, all she needed to do was bend over) and being really abrupt and rude to customers. She worked next to a really friendly man. Of course I didn’t get to talk to him. I went there to ask about my passport and instead of assisting like the website said she told me to leave and go read the site and figure it out. I asked again because the whole reason I came in was due to anxiety on how it all works and she told me something about gender being the reason she can’t help anymore (there was paperwork they don’t have due to gender and no she didn’t elaborate)? The Asian man at least assisted me by telling me the name of the site. Really poor service from this woman. Surprised she even has a job here honestly. Good luck to anyone going here. At least it’s a 50/50 shot at having a kind worker assist you.

I really appreciate the level of customer service at this location—it’s clear that the usps as a whole is underfunded and many post offices, including this one, have serious staffing issues. Despite that, both my mail delivery man, and the people at the counter/on the phones at this location are far more polite and helpful than one might expect for a struggling government agency. For example— a package of mine was mistakenly sent to Delaware this morning, and i tried calling the Georgetown post office multiple times to get more information, only to have the 10-12 rings terminate in an ended call without even the option to leave a message, each time. But on my first try calling Downingtown, i not only spoke to an employee, but he was exceptionally kind and helpful. Outside of my private interactions, i also work for a small local business, and we have a great working relationship with the team at the Downingtown post office, whom we rely on pretty regularly. I am always so grateful for their level of professionalism in a time that i know first hand is stressful to be working in customer service, let alone also as a federal employee.

Horrible service. My family and I went to apply for passports, and after a long wait, we went to the counter. The lady at the counter asked for both parents and I told her my wife was in the car with the baby. She told me to step away. She was very aggressive, rude, and unhelpful. She acted like she owned the post office. When I talked to the supervisor, he had no authority over her. In the end, she refused to provide us service for no reason. This location is the worst post office location ever. :(

There should be a zero star here. The management is so far disconnected that it is below a zero star.
There is a disconnect with management and their carriers that goes far beyond unacceptable.
3 package pickups with online confirmation in the past 2 weeks, which none of them picked. One was even scanned by the carrier, and never picked. Don't even bother calling and asking for the postmaster. They are clueless. Find another vendor.

If I could give zero stars, I would. The Downingtown post office was never great—barely passable at best, but better than West Chester. Sure, you had to wait, but at least they'd eventually help you and get you out the door. Well, not anymore. I went in today expecting the usual mediocre service, but somehow they've managed to lower the bar even further. When it was my turn, I told the African American woman clerk at the front desk (don't know her name) I wanted to send a letter by certified mail. She shoved a piece of paper in front of me, told me to get out of line and fill it out. I got out of line and ignored her attitude. Not more than three minutes later she told about 10 other people in line that there was a passport appointment coming in and it would take a long time. The other guy was apparently doing fingerprinting so he also was also going to take a long time. This was at noon on a Tuesday.
I walked out and drove thirty minutes west to another USPS office. The very nice lady at that office told me that I wasn't supposed to fill out the form, she was. It took less than a minute to do what I needed to do.
Downingtown Post Office is a joke.

I would have given Zero star, this is absolute worst service ever that I have encountered so far. The front desk employee Mark was extremely rude, disrespectful and unprofessional treating customers based upon the color as if he is doing a favor to them. If he does not like his job, she should quit but not show his frustration on customers. We were there recently for passport service and had incorrect form, when I asked him where can I find correct , he bluntly told me I don't know where the forms are and you need to take new appointment. After finding the correct form, he told me your form is in correct and you need to take new appointment. I have requested politely to tell us if something was wrong with the application that we filled out and give us 3 mins as we still have time, he ignored us. I would give this place negative 10 stars. Stay away from this place. Never going back again. All other customers who were there around that time experienced the same behavior and left frustrated and disappointed. I know usps may not care about reviews but hopefully this helps others who plan to go there .
