I recently participated in a webinar on Dementia. It was excellent! Trying to better appreciate the gravity in what it means to be a care giver for someone with dementia – Kevin Jameson helped provide a wealth of information. He was patient, methodical and sensitive. There is an incredible amount of resources, programs, and information – out there. This event has proved to be an excellent starting point to begin my exploration.

I'm a volunteer with the Dementia Society of America and can tell you that this group rocks. It provides useful information for anybody with dementia (and their families) and, also, it offers some terrific programs. Check back to the DSA website or Facebook page to find out more about what's happening.

It is heartbreaking when a close family member is diagnosed with Dementia. As a bystander it is painful to watch the ones you love. To have resources to help those both affected and for caregivers is paramount. Thank you for the work your volunteer organization provides.

I’m a volunteer with the Dementia Society because I believe in the work we do and what we stand for. I believe that there is not enough awareness about the disease, not enough information widely circulated and never enough help for caregivers and those we care for. The Dementia Society IMO is focused on the right things and at the time that I was in a caregiving role I found their support invaluable.

You do not have to face this diagnosis of dementia alone. I recently attended a webinar in which Kevin Jameson covered types of dementia and the resources they provide. I only wish this information had been available when my Mom was diagnosed. I would urge anybody faced with this diagnosis, family & friends, to utilize the resources offered by the Dementia Society of America. These are individuals available to connect you with valuable tools, supportive contacts within your regional community and the shared experience along this pathway.
