Wonderful experience. Fantastic tour inside of the Castle. Tour guide was friendly and informative. Viewed several rooms and floors of the interior. Would love to see more of the outdoor grounds when the weather is better. Excellent tour back in time of this magnificent place. Lots of walking and fascinating views of the rooms and all they held. Guided tours take a little over an hour. Might be too much for very small kids to get through.. Looking forward to returning

Tours fill up quickly, would definitely suggest booking in advance especially in the winter. The limited space per tour is to the visitors benefit, expect easy staircases and medieval sized rooms. Our guide was thoughtful and curated a great 1 hour introduction that included visiting 18 rooms in the historic house.

Visiting Fonthill Castle felt like a magical step back in time, a real-life journey into a past era that left me spellbound from the moment I walked in. The castle’s architecture is a feast for the eyes, with its stunning mosaic of intricate tile work that decorates floors, walls, and ceilings in a burst of colors and patterns. It's not just the scale of the place but the detail in every inch that's captivating. The large, majestic windows caught my attention, framing views of the surrounding landscape that seemed to transport me to a different, quieter world. Each room held its own unique charm, from the grand old library, filled with ancient tomes, to the winding staircases leading to hidden nooks, making me feel like an explorer uncovering secrets of the past. The sense of wandering through history was profound, especially appreciating how the castle combined elements from different architectural styles to create a timeless masterpiece. The craftsmanship of the tiles, each telling a story of its own, showcased an artistic dedication that’s rare to find today. Walking through the castle, I was in constant awe of the effort and passion poured into building such a magnificent residence. Fonthill Castle isn’t just a historical site; it’s a testament to creativity and imagination, offering a window into the life and times of its creator. For anyone looking to experience the beauty of bygone eras, Fonthill Castle in Doylestown is a must-visit, promising an unforgettable journey through time.

The home of Henry Mercer. This is the kind of place I want to live in. Every room in this house depicts some of Henry's personality and charm. The walls are full of period art and photos, and the old heating system give the place a charm not seen elsewhere. If you look hard enough you will also find signs of his favorite dog Rollo imprinted in the concrete. This is a very unique and must see attraction in the Doylestown area.

I was blown away by the beautiful artwork in this castle. And the fact it only had three people living in this castle before the final resident passed away and the County took over. My tour guide was great and bubbly. I wish I remembered her name but we went 2/9 for the 2:15pm tour. My fiancé and I didn’t buy our tickets in advance and thankfully got there where the next tour was in 15mins so we walked around the premise. I’ll definitely come back here.

I came here to see the Christmas decorations. I loved the differently themed rooms. The cost of this special event is $20 for 40 minutes. I moved at my own pace. Some rooms were very crowded, so I would go ahead and check back later since I was solo. I want to go back for the guided tour so I can learn the history and hopefully see more of the castle (many areas were roped off). The tile work was astounding. I'm sure this would be very cold or very hot and humid, depending on the time of year.

Wow! This is an absolute hidden gem! I've lived in PA my whole life and in the vicinity of Fonthill Castle the past 15 years and never knew it existed. Joe, our guide was spectacular and paced the tour in the most interesting and interactive way. He gave detailed information as needed, but left us wanting to ask a few questions, which was perfect! This made the tour so interesting and with no awkward pauses or anything like that! The tour is 1 hour, but it does not feel like one hour, because the tour is so well structured. I am a huge fan of the policy to take as many pictures as you like. That was refreshing! Parking is easy. As you enter the driveway, vere slightly left, and park anywhere in gravel parking lot. Walk toward the castle and stop in to the smaller building to the right to check in and wait for your tour guide. You'll then be walked to the castle by your guide and it is a wonderful journey from there. Fonthill Castle is definitely worth the visit!

I always love going to Ponto castle at the different seasons in order to photograph the historic amazing craftsmanship of this Paul cement building and enjoy the vast collections that are on display. In addition, I would highly recommend the variant tile works, which is on the same property, as well as the Morvarian museum in Doylestown with an extension of the collection

WOW! Came here while in the area and was blown away. The castle was absolutely breathtaking and the staff was incredibly knowledgeable. We went on a December weekend so it was self led throughout the path and the major rooms all had themed christmas trees with a hidden pickle ornament! It definitely added to the atmosphere and really made the trip. Would absolutely recommend!
