Very interesting museum about historical tools, aids, all crafts; Household supplies, agricultural harvesting equipment and means of transport. There are also tiles and majolica produced by the museum founder. The whole thing is presented in a spectacular early concrete building, similar to a castle.Be sure to visit!

This is an incredible museum that I feel doesn't get the recognition it deserves. A fantastic vision of the Man Henry Mercer, and an unparalleled collection of pre-industrial artifacts. Absolutely breathtaking and awe-inspiring. Takes about 2-2.5 hours to get through, and you could easily dive deep down the rabbit hole and spend more time. Don't miss out touring Henry Mercer's personal home, Fonthill Castle as well. About 5 minutes away. If you want to connect with the every day life of Colonial America, this is the place! Way too much info for a review, so go check it out and learn some amazing things.

A simply engrossing museum about the instruments used by mankind, especially in the building of America. Most museums answer the question "who built this country?", while the Mercer Museum answers the question "how did we build this Republic?"

Tonight's visit to the Mercer Museum in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, for their Holiday Open House felt like stepping into Escher's famous painting "Relativity." The orchestra's music reverberated through the unique architecture, creating a surreal atmosphere. Festive sounds, delightful scents, and enchanting holiday scenes surrounded me as I enjoyed local musical performances, engaged in kids' crafts and activities, and met Santa in the cozy Log House!

Very cool museum filled with many primitive artifacts. There is a huge variety of items here, so it stays interesting. It is also fun to walk through a castle, it feels fitting for the items it displays. The gallows at the top was my favorite part - I've never seen one in person. Staff were very friendly. They offer some discounts to military and teachers. Plenty of parking onsite.

We drove over 300 miles because my wife had read that it was a place to visit. My suggestion to you is don't do it!My initial reaction when I entered was... wow, look at all this old stuff. Then after a few minutes I started to realize the guy was really just a junk collector or a hoarder. We actually saw stuff in there that our parents had.My wife really wanted to go to the castle too. But thankfully a staff told us that it's just filled with his books and tiles so we passed on that.Let me put it this way for you, the self guided tour was supposed to take 2.5 hours. We were done in 40 minutes. And that included using the restroom.

Honestly boring as heck compared to the Fonthill Castle. It’s all old tools which I guess is interesting to some people, but kinda seems like a bunch of old junk in a fancy setting. The most interesting parts were the fake general store and the tortoise shell/bone carving tools. I have no complaints about the niceness of the museum or the beauty of the grounds, the collection was just drab.

The Mercer Museum hosted my wedding! This was a wedding under unique circumstances in that, my husbands mother who has been fighting cancer for a few years was given only a few months to live around the time that our wedding was a year out. As a result, we decided to pivot our plan and hold our wedding within four months. Without a venue or any ability to re-budget, we were left to figure out what we could do on our own. Mercer Museum was kind enough to allow us to hold our wedding on site for a small ceremony and pictures. We only had 28 people total, but it was a holiday weekend and they were willing to work with us and help us out. It turned out beautiful and we are so thankful to the whole team over at Mercer for all of their help.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for a captivating journey into history at the Mercer Museum. My recent experience with Mercer Museum was an absolutely fascinating experience! This museum truly captures the essence of history and offers a unique perspective on the past. From the moment I stepped inside, I was in awe of the architectural marvel that is the Mercer Museum building itself. The towering castle-like structure immediately transports you to another era. The museum houses an incredible collection of artifacts and objects that tell the story of early American life, showcasing the vision and passion of Henry Chapman Mercer, the museum's founder.I was amazed by the sheer diversity of items on display. It was like taking a journey back in time, discovering the intricacies of everyday life in different periods. One of the highlights for me was the extensive display of ceramics. The museum boasts an impressive collection of ceramic tiles, pottery, and other ceramic works. It was fascinating to see the craftsmanship and artistry of these pieces, representing various cultures, styles, and time periods. The attention to detail and the preservation of these ceramics truly impressive. Moreover, the museum does an exceptional job of providing context and information about the artifacts. Each exhibit is thoughtfully curated and accompanied by informative displays and descriptions, making it easy to understand the historical significance and cultural context of the items on display. The museum's dedication to education and storytelling shines through in every corner. This place was amazing to visit with kids. My 7yo was mesmerized by everything hanging from the ceilings. And they both loved doing the interactive stations set up for kids. There is no Ac/heat so not sure how it is in summer, but we visited on a chilly early spring day and it was perfect. One of the most interesting and different museums I’ve been to. Highly recommend a stop here.

In my opinion it is very unique/cool history museum that holds collection of objects representing everyday life in the pre-industrial era. Cost of admission is $15 (adult), $8 (youth 6-17). The best way to explore starting from the highest floor and going down. You probably will spend around 2 hours in the museum. Don’t forget to check out the old library it reminds me of a Harry Potter movie. Enjoy your visit.

Wish I could be more positive. The place needs a good reorganization and cleaning. There didn't seem to be much climate control or preservation going on. I realize that the museum was built and open decades ago (90 yrs). If they have anything very very rare and valuable they might not even be aware of it. I know nothing about the administration of this museum or if H C Mercer set up a foundation to financially sustain this collection but they need help.
