This is a beautiful historic Inn, we loved our stay!! Rebecca was a wonderful host. The room (Tailors cottage) was perfect for my husband and golden retriever, spacious, super clean and cozy. We loved just hanging out by the fire at night. Will definitely be back! P.S. breakfast was amazing! And we also enjoyed the wine bar. Great staff!

This is one of the absolute best places I have ever stayed. The service is incredible, and friendly. Very attentive. We didn't have any issues, everything went very smoothly. The room was absolutely BEAUTIFUL and CLEAN! Very very clean place. It's cozy, inviting, and safe. I really appreciate that I got to stay here, and I will absolutely be back!Rooms: Very clean, open, cozy, and inviting. Also, very safe. Loved having a fireplace with a free log at that!!! Very nice.Safety: Seemly safe area, we had no issues. They lock the door at night so no one can just waltz in. Plus the room had a deadbolt lock which is extremely safe!Food & drinks: The breakfast was extremely delicious. Very fresh food, great coffee, a huge variety of tea, even the water tasted good lol. We were allowed to bring our breakfast upstairs when I started feeling anxious around other people. I never had any place actually care about my medical issues until I came here. They always made sure we had water in our room too. They even gave us takeout boxes for our food that we didn't have a container for.Noteworthy details: There is a nice place in the back to sit and hang out, and some tables outside to eat at. There is overflow parking but we never needed it, but it's good that it exists. The service was amazing. Seriously the owner actually cares about the people staying there. She did everything to make sure we were all set for our stay. I would give 100 stars if I could.

This Band B was top of the line. We were traveling with friends. From the moment we entered the door we felt welcome and at home!We appreciated the way the house was modern, but did not lose the time period in which it was built! Many original beams, door knobs etc. but modern and lovely showers etc. The wine tasting room was like none we experienced before. Delicious wine!Linens were top notch, food delicious and generous portions, and Rebecca and Dave the Best! The evening we sat around the outdoor fire was the icing on the cake!If we ever visit that area again we will definitely stay again!Betty

Rebecca was a fantastic host. She was very hospitable and friendly. The room that we stayed in, the Chocolate Room was clean and relaxing. The breakfast was fantastic. Thank you for preparing an allergy free breakfast for me. The dairy free breakfast really made me comfortable with staying here. Really great location, drove here from Lancaster, PA after visiting Hershey Park.

We had a wonderful time here; Rebecca is a super host. Breakfast was delicious on both mornings. Our room, up top, was comfortable and decorated beautifully. She gave us super advice on things to do that I have not done before (even having lived in Lan Co in a previous life). Her blog on covered bridge tours is SPOT ON, and we can't wait to visit more of them in future trips.

This is only my second B&B that I've stayed at because frankly they can be cluttered, dated, musy and creepy. But we went for it because the pictures showed all the rooms were simply decorated with a few pieces of art and furniture and the bedding was white cotton, not flowered, laced, creepy bedding from the early 70's. We booked the hotel and showed up just as the wine bar, Weathered Vineyards Wine Room was closing, so we grabbed a bottle of very reasonably priced and tasty wine. The part that surprised me is that the owners were not expecting us and they were not prepared because we booked for the following night! Fortunately they were able to give us the last available room and greeted us with happy surprise. The Inn was clean, free of dust and smell, simple yet thoughtful decor and yet kept to period. We stayed in the Yellow room, which had a queen four poster bed and a new shower. And the shower!!! was so modern, surround with glass on two sides and subway tile with dark gray grout set at 1/4" apart, lovely. A large pedestal sink and original floorboards throughout the room. The liquid soap was a wonderful, refreshing smell. The next morning, we agreed to come down at 8:30 am for breakfast. Rebecca, one of the owners, prepared fresh local peach sweet bread, a bowl of fresh watermelon and blueberries with ginger syrup, crunchy french toast with strawberries, whipped cream and chicken maple sausage. It was really too pretty to disturb, but I literally had to force myself to disturb the lovely and thoughtful display. The people in the dining room were friendly, Rebecca seemed thrilled to be serving us as we poured over her our compliments. We are so happy we found this B&B on our way to Lancaster, Pa. We will be back!

I don't know exactly where to start! We had never stayed at a bed and breakfast before, but I must say The Smithton made a great impression from the get go. Booking a room is easy online, details are emailed and texted to you in no time. On a Monday was a perfect opportunity for us to spend a night, we tend to like things a bit less busy, instead of a weekend. Easy to find, interesting drive through town after you get off the major routes... I'd like to just walk the streets and check out the businesses! We intended on visiting Bube's Brewery about a half hour away for dinner, so we figured why not stay instead of driving all the way back home? After you visit the check in desk, brief instructions are left for you, and even though there's no one there, you can easily contact Rebecca-yep, that's her-with any requests. Or you may run into her briefly as you look around the place as we did. She is definitely the hostess with the mostest! She is like the good friend that you haven't seen for years, but when you get together it's as if it was yesterday...even if you've never met her before! Anything at all, she has answers...history of the building, places and notable things in the area, entertainment, the methods she uses to cook the impossibly good corn flake coated French toast for breakfast, or even where the foofy bedspreads are from and where you can get them! The place? Quaint. Clean. Quiet. Comfy. Inviting. I'd love to return and sit at the wine tasting bar, or chill outside after dark by the large fire pit. I literally can't wait :) Thanks for the relaxing stay, it was over way too fast!

My wife and I stayed at The Historic Smithson Inn in Ephrata, PA last week. We found it to be a charming, cozy, clean and comfortable bed and breakfast in the heart of Pennsylvania Amish country. The owners and Inn Keepers, Rebecca and David Gallagher are friendly and attentive. They have added private bathrooms, air conditioning and fast Wi-Fi to every room. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept on and the breakfasts were out of this world! Rebecca is definitely a gourmet level cook. We will DEFINITELY be back and 100% recommend this wonderful B&B.

Loved it! Great breakfast and grounds. Rebecca is very helpful. We were in the Taylor's Cottage which is pet friendly.1st floor has a living room with Roku HDTV and a kitchen with fridge, sink, counter, cabinets, microwave and table.2nd floor has a bedroom with another Roku HDTV and bathroom with shower and small jacuzzi. The cottage is well decorated, maintained, clean and furnished. We went in late spring so idk about the heat. We had free wifi, separate entry from the main house and privacy. One small problem, the stairs going to the second floor are steep. Also, there's only one air conditioner for the 2 stories setup halfway up the stairs and it's very loud.

This was our first stay at this B&B. The owners are friendly, conversational and helpful. They accommodated our breakfast for dietary restrictions. Each breakfast was well prepared and delicious. The rooms are clean and the entire property is kept up. The weekend music with wine bar was a nice way to end the evening. The location is excellent for regional activities and taking in the sights.

This is one of the best places in town to sit back and enjoy some fantastic wine and food. Live entertainment on Friday and Saturday evenings. When the weather is nice the outdoor patio is perfect. The staff and owners are great people and make you feel at home. Highly recommend.Food & drinks: Mediterranean bistro menu with a great options for all. The wine from Weathered Vineyards is fantastic with both red and whites. Love that it's not your traditional PA sweet wine only. They also offer local beers from great local breweries.
