Great assortment of items, very helpful staff and good prices. Also, when I was there, pretty early, checkout was easy.

Pretty good selection for the area. PLEASE FIX ORGANIC PRODUCE SECTION. Lettuce is always wilted and I think the cooler or sprinkler is broken. The napa cabbages and red leaf are sad..

Market District is the upscale version of Giant Eagle. This particular location looks smaller in size than many other locations, but I thought that the selection of products was still good. Most of the food that I bought was from the catering department. I had ordered food a couple of weeks before an anniversary party. A manager had told me to choose a pickup time that was close to the start of the party so the food would still be hot.On the day of pickup, I arrived over an hour before the start of the party. The catering employee placed most of the containers of foods into my shopping carts, but he noticed that several trays of sushi had not yet been made. I had to wait about one hour for the sushi to be made, so I ended up arriving slightly late to the party. A few employees apologized to us multiple times. At the party, I noticed that my two salads were missing dressings, so they tasted plain. My party guests and I did enjoy the freshness and flavors of the other foods, particularly the chicken tenders and the sushi.

Market District is Giant Eagle's upscale grocery store chain. For my in-laws' 50th wedding anniversary party, I ordered catered food from this Market District. I will write a positive 4-star review for this particular location of Market District because the catered food tasted very good, but I do want to point out that the employees committed some large mistakes. Read on: Over two weeks before the party, I called the store to ask about their cut-off time for ordering catered food and their recommended pickup hour. The manager said that he needed only 3+ days of advance notice, and he recommended that I select a pickup time that was close to the time of the party so the hot food would remain hot. On that same day, I ordered the food through Giant Eagle's website. The website sent me an automated email that listed the specific foods, quantities, prices, and pickup time. Minutes later, a team leader emailed me to confirm my catering order. My in-laws' anniversary party would begin at 4 PM, so our pickup time was 3-3:30 PM. On the day of the party, I and three family members arrived at the catering area at 2:50 PM (yes, a bit early) to pick up the foods. The catering area was located near the aisle that has beers and wines. A catering employee kindly greeted us, and he began to carefully place our foods into our shopping carts. My order was large, and the employee tried his best to keep track of the foods as he removed them from refrigerators and warmers and placed the containers in our shopping carts. Unfortunately, the sushi department had misread our order of 6 trays as only 1 tray, so we had to wait a long time for the employees to make 5 additional trays of sushi. Then the catering employee accidentally dropped 1 tray of sushi on the floor, so we had to wait again for the sushi employees to make additional sushi. In total, we waited for about one hour! Because of the mistakes with the sushi, my husband and I ended up arriving late to the anniversary party. Before we departed the grocery store, the catering employee and the sushi employees sincerely apologized to us multiple times. The manager or team leader also apologized, and he handed us a gift card for $10. We had paid a total of $1,379.44 for the food, so the $10 gift card seemed very small. Here are my reviews for the catered foods: Hand-breaded chicken tenders - 5 stars - These chicken tenders were a large size, contained juicy white meat, and had a slightly salty breading. I had chosen sauces in flavors of buffalo, BBQ, garlic parmesan, and honey mustard. My family members said that they really liked these chicken tenders. Fruit platters - 5 stars - These fruit platters consisted of strawberries, cantaloupe, watermelon, honeydew, pineapple, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries. These fruits were fresh and tasted very good. Mini-sandwich platters - 4 stars - I had ordered one platter with roast beef, ham, and turkey sandwiches and one platter with egg salad, tuna salad, and chicken salad. The sandwiches were a convenient size, and they tasted OK. Crudite platters - 4.5 stars - The vegetables included fresh tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, bell peppers, carrots, cucumbers, carrots, and celery sticks. In the middle was a container of ranch dip. Caesar salad - 3 stars - This salad contained romaine lettuce, parmesan cheese, and croutons. The lettuce and cheese were fresh, but the croutons were soggy. The employees forgot to give us caesar dressing! Meatballs - 4 stars - These meatballs were Italian-style and were served hot with marinara sauce. I ate one meatball and thought that it tasted fine. Macaroni salad - 4.5 stars - The ingredients of pasta, celery, onions, egg, and mayonnaise-dijon dressing tasted very good. Cheese and pepperoni trays - 4.5 stars - These trays contained colby jack, swiss, pepperjack, and cheddar cheeses as well as pepperoni and beef sticks. On the side were pimento cheese and jalapeño cheese for dipping. Potato salad - 4.5 stars - The ingredients of potatoes, celery, onion, egg, mayonnaise-dijon dressing, and relis

The store looks dirty. Floor has cracks, remodel from a regular Giant Eagles to a Market District was low budget. Lighting is poor. Refridgerator are not cold enough, food is spoiling faster than it should. I shop here regularly only due to convenience, milk has gone bad quickly, meat is aleady browning, argued with butcher about what was put out for purchase as being acceptable. Not even funny the person in charge of quality wanted to bicker about smelly disgusting meat because the date was within the timeframe! Selection of usual products has been reduced like choice of bottle water, dairy and cereal or crackers--- forced to choose Giant Eagle brand. No cashiers on a saturday evening!! Expected to self checkout a $350 order of groceries myself. Bunch of employees just standing around and a manager on duty watching them stand around until I asked if someone could ring me out! Ridiculous and the shift manager says, "we had a bunch of call offs today" when she got caught not having employees at their registers. Not enough accountability at this store.

Market District is a great experience and ambiance. They have a significantly larger selection of prepared foods including hot and reheatables. Sushi selection is decent and the sushi chefs are very consistent.

The store manager at this location is completely rude and disrespectful to her employees on the sales floor in front of my( a customer) view. I can’t believe that market district would allow a manager so disrespectful to her people to work for their establishment. I’m definitely going to a different grocery store.

seriously cannot call this a market district. i am HIGHLY disappointed in it. they raise the prices and call it a "market district". it is the same exact size as it was before. the card section is a JOKE. flower section is a JOKE. they made the pharmacy so much smaller and is now a JOKE. the only thing we gained was an alcohol section that takes up an entire row. if you like that great but did we need an entire row (both sides) for just that? probably not. the fruit/vegetable section stayed the same size. please tell me what makes this a market district? having a Starbucks? i mean great but there's a starbucks right down the road. there's a million beer distributors/statestores all over the area. there's literally a beer distributor in the same shopping plaza only a couple hundred feet away. jacking up the prices for the things that we didn't gain to call it a "market district" im highly disappointed. they should've made it bigger (they have the room). if you want a real market district go to Shadyside or one of the other ones. if you just want a giant eagle who's prices aren't crazy like how this one is just go to the one near schramms on Harrison city road (who's prices are actually lower) or Monroeville. don't waste your time with this joke of a market district and save some money and go somewhere else.

I love Market District. They help small businesses sale local items. It's about time they came to terms to establish one in Westmoreland County.

Great place to shop for quick things and specialty items like pre-made sushi. However, everything is very expensive.

I love it! I can find a variety of items that you can’t find at other grocery stores. A great variety of mushrooms to Hispanic ingredients, Asian, Indian and so on I’m in love with this store.

Fish sandwiches, onion rings and French fries were inedible and rock hard at 5pm Friday durring lent. For 15$ a piece it was such a disappointment. They must have been sitting there all day. They used to be good before they turned to a market district, now the hot foods section doesn't get touched all day for a reason.

Great store and selection. Just get rid of the people trying to scam older/less knowledgable people by the back. It’s a shame. I’ll make this a five star when I no longer see them.
