Usually don’t leave reviews but I recently had one of the worst experiences selling to Plato’s at this location. I used to live in FL and was a frequent seller at Plato’s there - I never had a bad experience, even when it happened that they didn’t want to buy anything. Fast forward to last night when I brought a massive bag of clothes in to sell at this location, many of which were jeans & tops that were purchased less than a year ago. They told me it’d be 15 to 20 minutes and after 10 minutes I received a text that my drop off was done. The store attendant threw the bag on the counter and it looked like it was barely even gone through, and shoved a $5 coupon in my face, rudely and condescendingly explaining the Plato’s closet spiel about them only buying clothes less than 2 years old and in good condition, as if half the stuff in the bag wasn’t practically brand new. I will never shop in this location again. I drove 25 minutes out of my way just for the attendants to be both lazy and rude to me. (EDIT: the point of this review is to show how RUDE the staff member was who handed my buy back to me. I have been a Plato’s Closet customer for 7+ years and am very familiar with the buying process, like I said earlier. I have never had a staff member in other locations speak to me the way that I was spoken to here, and the fact that the owner only comes on to tell bad reviews how they’re wrong shows that this starts at the top. The owner completely ignored this in their reply which only makes me sure that I will never stop at this location again. This is not how you treat paying customers.)

This is a past due review of this store. Unfortunately based on my experience some years ago, I have to give 1 star. I was a WCU undergrad at the time, juicy couture was extremely popular and I had a ton. I took 2 of my juicy bags that I no longer wanted in hopes of either getting cash or store credit but they declined because they thought my bags were fake without being able to call out anything, of course I had receipts for them so I found it odd. The reason I’m calling this out so many years later is because I have 2 bins full of clothes that I wanted to drop off, they’re lightly worn or never worn and all designer items, I know a lot of students come in to this location and wanted to simply give them to this store without receiving cash or store credit but based on my experience, its a huge no. I’ll have to unfortunately take them to a local goodwill instead. Sucks because I looked into do a campus drop off and students again referred me to this Plato’s closet as well :/

I’ve never been to a Plato’s closet before and the experience was so disappointing that I won’t be back. I brought clothing in to sell in which I thought they were of good condition as in no stain, pulls or visible signs of wear. I was told the process would take 15 mins and I would get a txt when the appraisal of my clothes were done. As I walked through the store waiting for the appraisal of my clothes, I noticed the quality of clothes being sold and decided not to buy anything as it was subpar condition, comparable to Goodwill. 30 mins later, the same woman who was assisted me with my appraisal awkwardly asked me if I wanted a basket when I wasn’t carrying any items to purchase. I finally when to the desk to ask about my clothes and was told that they were not interested in purchasing any of my clothes except a Patagonia fleece for $7. Disappointed, I decided not to sell them the fleece and left. My advice to those who wish to thrift would be to use ThredUP as their clothes are in far better condition and prices are not as inflated.

Went to Plato's Closet today at the recommendation of one of my son's friends. I would NEVER recommend anyone taking their items to this store. I had 2 bags of women's clothing, 3 pairs of new shoes and a bag of about 8 pairs of men's jeans. Two Calvin Klein dresses still had the tags on them. Another Candie's dress also had the tag on it. I walked out with $4.80 for one pair of men's jeans. I will go to a consignment shop in the future and NEVER EVER go to Plato's Closet again. Don't waste your time with this place.

Plato's closet, where you go to sell your clothes for pennies or endlessly search though the massive amounts of clothing they fit into one store. Searching to hopefully find a few things in your size that you like but usually end up regret buying.I feel like you used to be able to find better deals here but I feel like I usually end up spending way more than I thought for just a few items. Don't get me started on their pricing of their beat up shoes. I don't care if they are name brands, if they're beaten to hell they should not cost that much.

Im 30 weeks pregnant with a 10mo baby and requested to use the handicap fitting room, so I could bring my son in with me (safety). I was told they were using it for storage...or something. Jammed between the wall and a stroller, I *attempted* to try some things on, but was pretty frustrated by the experience and left with nothing. Honestly, this is pretty inconsiderate to people with disabilities, as well as parents who are shopping solo. Please empty out that space ?

I have taken my clothes here for years and never experienced a problem until the last week. I brought THREE FULL bags of clothes he's and accessories in - 99% of them name brand such as Lilly Pulitzer, Steve Madden, LOFT, American Eagle, Free People and more. They did not take a single item. On top of this frustration, they didn't even attempt to explain why - not that it makes it better - but more friendly customer service would've been nice. Never ever again!

I had a good experience at Plato's. They honesty gave me a fair appraisal on the clothes I brought in. They handled it professionally, and I will return there in the future. Additionally, I bought a nice pair of jeans at a great discounted price!

This store is awful, there clothes are cute and stylish for most but wow the service, they hire teenagers and they are so rude and disrespectful, I was told to move so an employee could get by me, no excuse me or anything, this is the second time I have been disrespected in this store while shopping here. I love coming here but the experience quickly gets ruined by other customers and employees. I will never come back here with the level of disrespect I received. This store needs learn some basic respect.

The way all clothes should be priced! Love getting clothes here and recycling for a better price. Sorted clothes great and often have good discounts on top of their already good prices.

don’t bother selling your clothes… i have brand new items with tags that are in style and they won’t take them.,. but yet iv bought clothes there with stains.. holes etc. it’s dumb. they carry the skimpiest out dated clothing but won’t take new stuff.
