“I frequent this store when I am in town. Last week I happened to stop in and was buying some necessities. I was having difficulty accessing my money within my accounts. For several minutes during checkout, I was taking things off, adding them on, trying to use this payment method, or that payment method. It was frankly quite embarrassing, because I couldnt figure out what I had to spend and where it was. (Plus I was dividing the payment methods between cash and card, which also makes it more hassle.) Michelle, my cashier was so helpful, patient, and sweet. I couldn't have asked for a better attendant to help me anywhere. I have certainly been through those situations before, although on the opposite side, working in the service industry, and it takes a certain type of person to be able to handle those moments with grace, ingenuity, and with empathy. This woman was all of those, and more. Most customers become extremely embarrassed and flustered when faced with moments of insecurity. MICHELLE was the reason I was able to not become overwhelmed and horrified in such a moment of instability. Thank you so much Michelle, you are an angel, and I appreciate the competence you displayed within your field and many times, the under appreciated empathetic and humanizing qualities you naturally displayed and offered me that day. You sincerely are one of the best! I hope that your strengths and leadership are recognized more often. You are a role model to those around you...co-workers and customers alike. People will learn from the examples that you set. I always tell people, in order to teach or help most people with anything, you must "live by example." The reason for that is because...words can be said, but actions always speak louder. You are that woman always speaking with her actions.”

“The store is clean and organized solely due to Michele, Carrie, and Kim. Without them their would be expired food, no personal interaction, and a general sense of caring. The General manager is unbelievably rude and downright unprofessional and not to be out matched is the sloth like performance of her first assistant. I make it a point to make my visits based on the vehicles in the parking lot. Great job and thanks for being essential and serving community.”

“Depends which one this is for because the one in Girard has items in stock that the one in lakecity doesn't have in stock which doesn't make any sense since they are the same store! Just different locations. So of you go to lakecity and it doesn't have what your looking for go to the one in Girard!”

“The first time shopping here and the cashier was phenomenal. Every cashier I've ever had at this store is always angry, doesn't engage in any convos, not helpful and just very unpleasant but this cashier was very upbeat, helpful kind and respectful. She deserves to be recognized In some way. Pay raise, paid vacation days, health insurance, ect. Since COVID dollar general has the worst time having any employees, the employees they do have are very overworked, underpaid. They have to be full front end cashier, customer service, but they are expected to be all over the store unpacking the truck shipments that are so backed up, and watch for any customers ready to cash out. The better management treats their employees the better the employees will work for you.”

“To address some of these reviews the floors look aweful due to the fact that people do not want to work so getting anything done while short staffed is impossible especially with the amount of stock that has to be done us employees at this location have not been trained on the app none of us use it so we do not know how to set it up or how it works, we hire people they work for a week get a paycheck then quit we are doing the best we can when we say we dont have time at that moment its because we truley do not have time the amount of work that has to be done between 1-2 people per shift is insurmountable we are doing our best with what little we have my job is to always keep my customers happy however thats not always possible as we as employees have rules and regulations to follow and customers are not always going to like if we cant fix something or jump to every becon call but please understand we are trying! Also this location closes at 9pm NOT 10pm the hours are posted on the door right when you walk in please refer to the posted hours as google does not know it all! And to address when the pet food was all out it was due to a ac unit flooding in the ceiling we lost everything in that aisle and had to wait for trucks to deliver more product honestly all you have to do is ask one of us why something is out what our hours are ect we will gladly keep you in the loop! All we ask is please be patient with us while we find a balance with running this store thank you!”
“Great place for grabbing something fast or taking your time to shop. Dollar General has become a much better place to shop over the past few years. Prices seem to comparable to many larger Dept stores.”
