... Jim, overnight front desk, took me around and showed me the old record player, and some of the many amazing relics on display. And shared some amazing tales of yore from this grand old hotel and the surrounding area. I'm glad I came over. It's the Summit Inn, Farmington PA - just up the mountain from Uniontown. Go there - you'll like it !

We stayed here in October and had a wonderful experience. I have driven past the Inn for years and thought it would be a nice long weekend away. View was beautiful! Also one of the cleanest hotels I have stayed in. There is a lot to do in the area around the hotel as well.

What an incredible place! Not just the views, but take the time to learn about its place in history and the people who have spent time there. We will be back!

The wife and I went here for dinner. The food was extraordinary. I had the short ribs and my wife had the three cheese tortellini. The wait time was good and our waitress was very polite and had a really cool first name. Can't wait to go back and eat again!

Stopped for lunch at the restaurant as we were passing through. Food was excellent, much better than we expected and reasonably priced. We only wished the dining room had some windows with the spectacular view.

A total waste. Lobby rooms not handicap friendly. No grip bars in shower. Handicap access in front to go up to lobby... none. Had to climb up approximately 15 steps and with bad knees that was a chore. Only 2 handicap parking spots out front. Had an omelet for breakfast. $10 for a simple nasty spinach omelet. I've done better at a motel 6Will never stay there again. William b.This place may be on the national historic registry, but it's a joke.

This was a wonderful, charming and all around excellent experience! The hotel is in a great location, has down-to-earth staff and delicious food and atmosphere. There is a beautiful pool, jacuzzi and outdoor deck with rocking chairs. You can roam around and find all sorts of nooks and crannies that are interesting to explore. It definitely has character and history...and that is a good thing. As two busy professionals in Pittsburgh, my husband and I stayed here over a weekend. The place is the perfect hotel that we plan on coming back to again and again. To put this into context, we have both stayed at Bedford Springs and have visited Nemacolin. Bedford springs is a place that feels a bit like a shopping mall. You pay a huge price but there are no amenities. The rooms are totally comparable to the Summit Inn. Nemacolin is beyond our budget and a place that at least for us is a very special occasion.Historic Summit Inn is the place that is just right...meaning that it's comfortable enough that you'll WANT to come back and budget friendly enough that you CAN come back!!Nearby activities: Fallingwater, Cucumber Falls, Laurel Caverns

My husband and I stayed 2 nights for our anniversary. Had searched online for a nice place to stay within 2-3 hrs of our home. The Summit Inn fit the bill perfectly. It is in a beautiful area with great views esp from the grand porch where we spent some time reading and relaxing in comfortable chairs. The lobby is beautiful and it has a nice restaurant and bar. Food was delicious. The room was a typical hotel room but decorated nice and clean ( most important to me). The bathroom was clean but nothing special, however it is an old, historic Inn so the space is limited. There is a very nice looking outdoor pool but we did not use it. All the staff was very pleasant and accommodating. Would definitely recommend.Nearby activities: Close to Ohiopyle State Park and 2 of the Frank Lloyd Wright houses.

Stayed on a Sunday night. Definitely a neat hotel. The room was as expected. You actually get a physical key to open the door. Adds to the ambiance.Would have liked an exhaust fan in the bathroom. The shower is a little low if you're 6 feet tall. The restaurant is worth the trip. Limited menu, but well executed. Pork chops were juicy, nice glaze. Tortellini with butternut squash cream sauce, very good. But the star was the pumpkin creme brulle.Breakfast next morning was also good.Overall very nice place to stay. You can really see how it may have been decades ago.

I almost hate to post what an incredibly amazing time we had, we may have difficulty booking again! The people who make this establishment run from housekeeping to the bar back were nothing but 5 stars. The atmosphere is relaxed and elegant somehow all in one. The hotel, the grounds, and rooms are spotless. Plenty of room to bring a family and be relaxed, but also beautiful intimate spaces to get away with a loved one for the weekend a take in the hour long sunsets. This unique spot is a gift and my daughter (12yrs) and I enjoyed every minute.

This review is for the restaurant only. We came for dinner on Friday night and the dining was busy. We had reservations but showed up a little early and were able to get seated. Our waitress greeted us quickly, gave us the specials and took our drink order. Those came out fast and were on point. We ordered the mini crab cakes which also came out pretty fast. They were excellent. Next up was French onion soup which was similarly very good. We got the same entree- filet with chanterelle cream sauce, mashed potatoes and asparagus. Steak was fork tender and cooked perfectly. Service was outstanding, we wanted for nothing. Again, I cannot comment on the rooms or anything beyond the restaurant and bar area but our experience was top notch and will be back without question. Those complaining about prices may want to consider some of the chain restaurants in nearby Uniontown in the future.

Love, love, love the Historic Summit Inn! The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is the fact that it is not really what you would typically call a "five star hotel." BUT it is exactly my favorite type of hotel. It is on the National Register of Historic Places, and is also a member of Historic Hotels of America. These two facts alone ensure a great stay full of history, grace, beauty and elegance. The huge lobby is gracious and welcoming, with warm earth tones and leaded glass shaded lighting evoking the Arts and Crafts era. A large, crackling fire invites you to sit awhile (even summer nights are cool on Mt. Summit). The Summit Inn is one of the very few remaining "Grand Porch Hotels" in the country, so it is only fitting that lunch and dinner are served out on the beautiful, massive veranda overlooking the valley. The chef creates absolutely delectable and beautifully presented entrees. Every meal is a delicious culinary experience. While using the large indoor pool, you have a beautiful view through the wall of floor to ceiling windows overlooking the lovely outdoor pool and valley below. The inn also offers Spa services, which we did not take advantage of.My husband golfed daily at the Mt Summit Golf Course, just a short jaunt from the inn (with free green fees for Summit Inn guests!) The golf course is beautiful and hilly, with wide, forgiving fairways and breathtaking views. The rooms at this nearly 120 year old inn are very nice, but not exceptional. The beds are comfortable, with nice bedding. Some of the rooms are quite small, but some are of a nice size. (We prefer staying in room 215, a large King Studio with a pool and valley view.) Bathrooms in this historic hotel tend to be on the very small side as well. When you look at the room rates, you need to factor in the fact that you are paying for much, much, more than just a room. You are paying for the entire experience. For us, it is well worth the money. One final thing to bear in mind: there are NO elevators in this building, and most of the accomodations are up at least one flight of stairs, our favorite room is at the top of two flights of stairs. However, there are a limited number of ground floor rooms off of the lobby. With all of this being said, I absolutely and completely recommend a stay at the Historic Summit Inn. It's a very different type of experience, in a beautiful and nostalgic environment, one that is very hard to come by in this world we live in today.

Note that as a historic site you will find no elevator, many stairs, and a patchwork of additions that may be confusing but these fail distract from the ambiance and charm of the two huge stone fireplaces, large foyer, and veranda with incredible sunsets. They staff have been very accommodating. We continue to have our annual family reunion dinner there since 2009.
