We are a group of families that have been getting together every Martin Luther King Weekend for 20 years! The location was great and central for all of us to travel to. The house provided us many conveniences such as multiple sleeping arrangement options and appliances. It made cooking for a large group so much easier. There was entertainment for every age from 4 to 41. We enjoyed exploring the area and the kids enjoyed playing in the snow. We would definitely like to come back to this house.

Place was amazing, stars were beautiful but temperamental. Overall rooms were nice, cabin was great, hot tub was a solid bonus and lots of meals and laughs. Group of 9 and everyone was able to sleep comfortably in Sycamore Lodge. River behind property was gorgeous.

This cabin was amazing! Went sliing with my husband and our dog. We loved everything about it and especially the location on the lake and the hot tub! Huge back yard for our lab doggo. Walked to ski lift, was the best. Only thing wish was better is the water pressure in the bathrooms sinks and kitchen was low, shower was ok. But will def go back in the summer to go boating too. Host was great and super responsive! Thank you!

I enjoyed my stay at Rough Cut Lodge. The home was spotless and thoughtfully maintained, and the kitchen in particular deserves special praise: every appliance was pristine, and the kitchen cabinets were so well organized that cooking felt effortless. The decor strikes the perfect balance for an outdoor enthusiast: rustic touches, log beams, and a cozy lodge atmosphere that fits beautifully with the surrounding landscape.
Running behind the home is a gorgeous creek bordered by the ruins of an 1800s-era stone bridge.
I would return in an instant. Highly recommend for anyone looking for comfort, charm, and a connection to the natural beauty of Gaines.

Do not stay at seven mountains vista. It is a cabin on wheels maybe 700 sq ft with open porch..the king size bed is in aloft the adults cant stand in, twin bunks in a hallway to the queen size bed. No add’l twin as indicated on website. The refrigerator is apartment size.. one couch for up to eight people but rest assured there are some stools to sit on..One small bathroom with a 30 gallon water heater for up to 8 people to shower.. one dresser no closets .. two people can’t stand in the kitchen. Also indicated at time of reservation bedrooms had ac NOPE.. the ad on the website is a joke and full of lies. Please not since posting this review the description of the little house has been updated… please note though it will not accommodate 7 adults comfortably- let’s be clear on this since the owner is quite childish with her response. I was a returning customer to rough cut lodges other locations.. we have stay with rough cut at least 6 or times prior. This was not my first stay in fact if she checked her records we stayed in Gaines in October of 2024.

We booked Seven Mountain Vista for a quick getaway. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin was immaculate. The customer service from Rough Cut Lodge was amazing, they are quick to respond, and really want you to enjoy your stay. The location is awesome. Our only wish was that the clouds had cooperated so we could see some stars. We were far enough to feel away from everything, but not too far. We definitely will return to Seven Mountain Vista, for a longer stay next time.

My family always enjoys our stay at Rough Cut. The welcome center, the hot tubs, the cabins, are all wonderful.
We always look forward to coming back. Oh, and the clothes! We love our Rough Cut sweatshirts, t shirts, and tanks.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The log cabin is adorable, nicely furnished, and is in a great location on the lake with a large yard. Also, conveniently located near Wisp, restaurants, coffee, and other activities.

Michele was an exceptional host/manager!!! She made sure that we were completely satisfied with our accommodations that were perfect beyond words! I will definitely be back since we were only able to stay one night, due to prior planning. I highly highly recommend the Hemlock but I am positive the other accommodations are just as pristine. Completely impressed! Its a must stay near the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon and the entire area is warm and cozy! Thanks Michele!!!

Stayed here last year and loved it so much, we had to go back. The place is clean and we love the look! Everything from the knotty pine walls and dining table with benches to the large king size bed with a beautiful quilt was so charming! There is a cable tv with a dvd/vcr and free WiFi. We brought movies from home to watch and made popcorn with the pots provided. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, plates, cups, and silverware. We brought our own food and drinks and made breakfast each morning. The creek outside the lodge is beautiful and peaceful. The welcome center has video games, pool, and foosball. Right outside is a hot tub which we used last year and it was wonderful. Hiking and Cherry Springs star gazing park is close by as well as a great antique store and great restaurants.

Our group of 17 had a wonderful time at Rough Cut Lodge’s Firefly Lodge! The house was beautiful, clean, and well maintained. There was lots of space for our group to spread out. We never felt cramped. The large dining table and extra folding table and chairs allowed our group to dine and play games together. There are outlets everywhere! The kitchen is seriously fully stocked. I think it may have just about any kitchen gadget you might need. The indoor pool and hot tub were fantastic! Renters should read the web site and reviews about the bedrooms. They aren’t all “private”, but that wasn’t an issue for our group. Michelle, our host, was always so responsive and helpful! I could go on. We were very happy and are looking at returning or trying one of their other properties.

This rustic cabin exceeded every expectation! From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the perfect blend of cozy charm and thoughtful amenities. The cabin is wonderfully appointed with everything you could possibly need, yet maintains that authentic rustic character that makes it so special.
The scenery is absolutely gorgeous—waking up to views of towering trees and natural beauty was pure magic. But what truly set this place apart was the sense of peace and tranquility. No noise, no distractions, just the soothing sounds of nature all around.
Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway or a peaceful retreat from the daily grind, this cabin delivers the perfect vibe. We left feeling completely refreshed and can’t wait to return. Highly recommended!
