Nicely done museum that shows many different and not usually explained aspects of the Gettysburg area. Good 'experience room' which gives patrons a firsthand experience of what it may have been like to have been a resident of Gettysburg when it was under attack by rebel forces. The only downside is that there are audio recordings that you can hear throughout the museum which detract from reading all of the many exhibits that are offered. A little too much going on all at the same time.

"Warning: May cause unexpected empathy. This museum brilliantly peels back the layers of the Gettysburg story, revealing the civilian cost of war beyond the grand battles. You'll encounter everyday lives disrupted, hear the whispers of fear, and gain a newfound appreciation for the resilience of the human spirit. Prepare to be moved – and maybe a little bit haunted. **Plan to spend a good amount of time here – there's a wealth of information and engaging exhibits to explore**

What an amazing experience. Beautifully done museum. It was really neat to do the exhibit called in the crossfire. Highly recommend.

This museum was very interesting with an emphasis on the civilian experience during the battle. I look forward to returning as two hours we spent there went by too quickly. Pictured is the Getty Tavern with Tavern games on the tables. Most are available for purchase at the gift shop. Our 8 year old grandson loves a dice game used to spell words. Very educational. Highly recommend during your visit to Gettysburg.

We had our daughter's first birthday party here and both Jaime and Abbie were awesome to work with! Everything from the event space to ACHS working with us to set up the party room beforehand, we couldn't have asked for a better venue and people to work with! Thank you guys for everything!

So informative and enriching. The trapped in a gettysburg house (during the beginning of the battle) was a very moving experience. The personnel were pleasant and knowledgeable of the exhibits and all contents. Ask them questions and get more education than just what you can read on the exhibits. The cost was reasonable and the exhibits were numerous.

Truly a great museum
It’s really nice to see a history of Adam’s county that is not just the battle of Gettysburg
Very informative and interesting
Well put together and displayed. Maybe a tad too much reading could take too long to get through

This museum popped up on TripAdvisor and Google Maps. After some googling and researching Reddit posts, I found that it appears this is a newer museum, and it is highly recommended.
It takes a little bit of a different angle than the other museums we saw in the area.
This one focuses more on Gettysburg itself. It's origins. Founders. Native American population. Natural sciences.
It also takes the angle of telling stories from those civilians who survived the Battle and the toll it took on them.
The museum is not that large so you don't have to budget a lot of time for it. We budgeted about 4 to 5 hours just in case (mostly cuz we've learned our lesson in the past that sometimes we underestimate and we also have an infant). We completed the museum experience in about an hour and a half.
What I really appreciated about this facility is how clean and new it is. The bathrooms were definitely the best we've seen so far on our trip. They also had diaper changing station covers! It would seem like nobody, from restaurants to gas stations to museums to fast food places to grocery stores seem to have these.
I also felt that the staff was very friendly and courteous. Very welcoming.
There was not a wait wait at the ticket counter and the exhibits were not too crowded.
The two exhibits that I think I enjoyed the most. Only because I think kids would really enjoy them. Is the tavern style activities highlighting the revolutionary war as well as the bystanders experience in the house. You get to relive being a bystander in the Attic of a house that's at the center where the two armies meet. Pretty wild.
Overall though, I feel like some of the exhibits could use a little bit more oomph since they were very brief and the museum small. I do like having videos to complement the experience. I will not take any stars away from that.
Overall, I think this is definitely worth the visit But it's not something I foresee coming back to you in the future, unless the kids are grown.

Love this museum!! Current Frassanito photography Special Exhibit Is fascinating. The interactive experience of being in the basement of a Gettysburg home during the battle is quite memorable.

Highly recommend this experience! We were welcomed by very friendly staff, who also gave us an overview of some other sites in the area and an excellent restaurant recommendation! The museum itself gave insight into the battle that you won’t find at your typical Gettysburg museum. It also explored history beyond the battle timeline which was fascinating. The one of a kind interactive experience was really amazing! This is a don’t miss stop on your visit to Gettysburg!

There is a theater built like a house that you sit inside, and it plays and rumbles the feeling of war occurring outside. The museum has a lot of good information and artifacts.

This was our first time visiting the museum and we were pleasantly surprised. The people working there were super friendly and knowledgeable. They even have a replica of a home that you can sit in to see what it would be like living in Gettysburg during the battle. Very realistic and worth seeing in person. We will definitely be back the next time we are visiting Gettysburg. It was one of the best parts of our visit.

Very cool. The first person civilian experience room was incredible. You really felt like you were caught in the battle. I honestly teared up because I just can't imagine the fear the civilians experienced.
Definitely recommend.
(the place was pretty chilly, temperature wise. I wish I had brought a sweater.)

Must must must go to this museum. It was one of the best in Gettysburg. This gave you an option of hearing and feeling the sounds of the war from what the civilians felt. Heard the sounds of bullets whizzing by! I ducked many times. Well worth going! It does give you trigger warning though. Definitely not good for anyone with post war PTSD!
