They understaff this place to such a ridiculous extent that I have to believe it's deliberate. I don't think I've seen them with more than 3 people working there total, and most days I only see 2. Looking at some of these reviews, I'm wondering if the staff aren't majorly stressed because they're expected to use 2 people to do the work of 6. Not excuse it if they've had outbursts at customers, I'm just saying, if corporate wanted to improve those numbers, they could probably find it in their hearts (and wallets) to hire another staff member. They made $18 billion dollars last year, and this seems to be a problem at each and every single Dollar Tree I visit, plus I see it on social media, I think they can afford it. But I just had to walk out of there because my intention was buying a single drink. I checked the lines, because last time, I was waiting in line for a solid 25 minutes (not even kidding) and they didn't even have the staff to open up another counter. I walked in there, thinking it couldn't take more than a minute to get my drink, and they had the ridiculous line with only a single register open again. Hire more staff! That's an insult to both them and your customers, no wonder they've lost it on people.

A worker here likes to let customers know in a passive aggressive manner not to make a mess in her store because it takes her a long time to clean up. 1-it’s not your store. 2-Don’t speak to customers in a passive/aggressive tone because you don’t like the clean up part of your job. 3-Don’t assume that all customers will treat a place where they shop as a trash can, make a mess then leave. 4- this one is the most important of all Never Ever Ever put your hands on a customer without consent! I don’t want someone that I do not know putting there hands on me rubbing my back!! I don’t know you, I don’t know where your hands have been and it is highly inappropriate and unprofessional to behave in this manner. Mark this store on my list of places I will not shop anymore! Asked for the manager- she was no help! Called the corporate number left a message-never heard back. Poor customer service. Just because it’s a low price store doesn’t mean your sales people have to be low quality-then again since I never heard from the leadership maybe that is what it means.

Not only did one of the employees come up and touch my toddler, she SCREAMED in her face, scaring her and making her cry. This woman was older and had blonde hair. Why would you touch a stranger’s child??? Then when we were checking out, I asked the guy checking us out, who was an older man wearing suspenders and glasses, to put the glass bowl I got in 2 bags, specifically to do so because last time I got one from dollar tree the employee chipped it by throwing it in just one bag… and he also proceeds to SLAM it into just one bag. and at the end he’s like waving the receipt in my face when I’m in the middle of taking my daughter (who’s still upset from earlier) out of the cart. And yes, to confirm, he did not put the bowl in a 2nd bag. Had to ask a second time and when he does he slams it again. And he put the rest of my stuff in one bag that was so overfilled it was all like falling out and instead of putting it in a separate bag to make it easier, he watched me struggle with picking it up while holding my squirming toddler and then just freaking walked away. Worst experience at a dollar tree ever. These people should not have a job here if they can’t handle BASIC social skills and common sense, and listening to the customer when they have simple requests. Beyond upset. Dollar tree should be ashamed to have hired these clowns.

My experience at the Dollar Tree at Colonial Commons today(7/5/25) was nothing short of appalling. While checking out several items, I also had two tubes of toothpaste in my cart. I was unaware that Dollar Tree now mixes different price ranges on the same shelves. I reasonably assumed the toothpaste was $1.25 each, as is traditionally expected at Dollar Tree.
When I realized at checkout that the price was actually $5 each, I politely told the cashier, Kathy (on duty at 11:33 AM, as per my receipt), that I no longer wanted the items. I even apologized for the confusion. Instead of handling this minor issue with basic courtesy, Kathy immediately became rude, repeatedly saying, “The price is on the shelf!” in a harsh, impatient tone, followed by “You’ve gotta pay attention!” as if I was somehow a burden.
Let me be very clear: This behavior is unacceptable. There is absolutely no excuse for treating a customer with such blatant disrespect over a simple, honest mistake. Retail employees often ask for kindness from the public, but they must also hold themselves to that same standard. Respect should go both ways.
As a frequent shopper and traveler, I have visited stores all over the world — from small-town shops to luxury retailers on Fifth Avenue in New York to Orchard Road in Singapore — and I have rarely encountered such openly hostile customer service. Even at other Dollar Tree locations nationwide, the staff have consistently been polite and helpful. This store, however, clearly has a problem.
After reading several other reviews, I see that this is not an isolated incident. This store’s pattern of rude behavior is well-documented, and it seems management either tolerates it or simply doesn’t care enough to correct it.
I urge Dollar Tree’s corporate leadership to take immediate action to address the toxic customer service culture at this location. Customers, regardless of how much they are spending, deserve to be treated with decency and professionalism. Dollar Tree should be ashamed to let this continue.

This place is constantly a disaster. I was in one line for 15 minutes to get called over to another line to have another customer with a crap load of items cut in front of myself and 20 other people. It's always super busy with one isle opened. I waited to ask about purchasing other balloons not up, and the guy told me I couldn't do that because they were extremely busy. I'm a paying customer too.

Horribly rude staff. By the sounds of reviews, management is no better.
Staff refused access to purchase what I came into the store for. Paperclips! But I was told I couldn't purchase them?!
Will NEVER go back to this location.

Good 👍 place 🏪 to go shopping 🛍️ at. Reasonable prices. $ However the line was super long almost to the end 🔚 of the store 🏪 with just 1 ☝️ cashier over at the cash $ register. When asked ? if there were other people to help her out she told me in a grumpy sound that the other cashier was on lunch 🍴 break.
