If I could give negative stars, I would. I've never dealt with a shadier business than Don's & Sons. Moving beyond their predatory practices, which are natural for a towing company and obviously garners unwarranted hatred, Don's and Sons still manages to behave with disgust and malice. Several years ago, when we asked for a simple explanation as to why our charges were so high, the owner immediately began shouting, screaming, and emasculating us. He called us names and insulted us -- simply for asking a question. He's a large man too. I genuinely feared for our safety. Recently, to tow one small SUV, the company decided it needed to use a flatbed truck and charged us three times the standard towing rate. Of course, the owner was also on the phone yelling at someone else, instead of honestly discussing the charges. This $300 bill had to be paid immediately or would escalate hundreds of dollars at a time, and it had to be paid in cash only. I don't know too many businesses who only accept cash. And yet, this company has contracts with the state and local government. I plan to reach out to them as well to make sure their behavior is no longer ignored.

They towed my car for no reason other than to make money. They should have their business license revoked!! They are not for helping the people.

Absolutely appalled by the 'service' I recieved by Don. After having a vehicle stolen from me and then totaled it was towed unfortunately to Don's. When asking to retrieve my personal belongings, he screamed that I must pay him (I assume an impound fee, but he didn't say) before receiving MY items out of MY car that I had already paid for. He said the payment was non-negotiable and when stated I would hire a lawyer to negotiate it he hung up. When trying to call back he hung up again, not only rude but also unprofessional. I didn't ask for my car to be towed here, nor did I ask for someone to steal it or total it. So as a victim to be treated like a criminal is ludicrous, I shouldn't have to pay for something I didn't bring on myself, nor will I be paying for it. Don and his company are a sad excuse for not only a towing company but also as decent human beings, he has no regards for anything but himself and acquiring money.

Avoid this place at all costs. First of all, they only take cash, which is kinda sketchy itself. Second, when I arrived, I handed over my driver's license and the key to my car as they asked and then I requested to see my car before giving them $175 cash to ensure that my car hadn't been damaged and that nothing was stolen. Rather than politely decline my request, or explain why he couldn't do such a thing, the guy just completely lost his mind. He started screaming -- and I mean SCREAMING -- at the top of his lungs. He said that it was an offensive thing for me to ask and to talk to the police if I wanted my car. I tried to talk to him and explain what I meant, but I couldn't get a word in because he just kept screaming until his face was completely red. I felt threatened and shaken and ended up breaking down in tears. It wasn't until his SON told him to calm down that he stopped yelling (after a good five minutes of raging, mind you) and immediately called a friend of his to loudly complain about what I asked, right in front of me. I have completely lost respect for the city of Harrisburg for using Don's Towing for their city towing. Please never give them your business if you can help it.

I was out of the country celebrating my 1st anniversary & came home too found out my car was towed...Mr. Don was extremely kind and understanding, and his staff the same.. I could have let this ruined my day, instead it turned into a blessing...Folks don't be mad if your car was towed, when you don't follow the rules.. Really handle amazingly, thank you again..

Don's engages in price gouging and then cannot explain how it determines its fees. I accidentally parked illegally and my cost was $215. ($175 + $40 storage) even though I picked it up within the hour. When I asked them what prevented them from charging $1000 or $5000, they had no answer. Just as the other people have mentioned previously, they require cash just so you're not able to initiate a credit card dispute. They know they have you by the balls, but they don't care.
