One star too much. If you can't go and physically inspect the items, forget their descriptions. They lie or purposely overlook defects or damage. And they'll adamantly and proudly stand behind their lies. When you try to call them out on this, they say items are sold as is and they take no responsibility for their descriptions. If you read the fine print on their policies, it basically says that they are not responsible for inaccurate descriptions. I had a lawyer read their policy and he just laughed and advised to completely avoid this auction house.As bad as some auction houses are, this one is one of the worst, dishonest as they get. They give auction houses a bad name For sure, they should not sell on internet. Lesson learned for me, but it stung. Stay away, they're crooks.

Alderfer Auction is amazing! This is the first time I have ever worked with an auction house to help me sell some of my late mothers personal items and they made it simple and easy.Blake from Alderfer was beyond helpful, informative and very patient.I highly recommend Alderfer Auctions for both selling AND buying. Having used Alderfer's for several auction categories, I can confirm from experience that the assigned auction reps are motivated to help consignors achieve the best possible auction results. This goal is reached through making Alderfer's auction process (to begin with completing the consignment agreement) easy to follow, with help, as well, for transportation of goods to be auctioned, where feasible. Compared to other auction houses that are often specialized in a few related item categories (like stamps and coins), Alderfer's offers greater breadth in the types of items accepted, from real estate to antiques, and from arts of all types to jewels, vintage toys and antiquarian books. Still another advantage is Alderfer's reach in extending its services to potential buyers and consignors overseas, which makes for a more dynamic bidding process, depending on the nature of the item offered. In summary, despite fluctuating market conditions, I believe that Alderfer's has done the best job possible in attracting interested buyers who, as a group, help the firm receive competitive bids from prospective buyers looking to receive fair market values in exchange for their collectibles or other goods offered. Highly recommended.

Aldefer Auction provided helpful information about parking and road conditions prior to pickup for an estate sale. Checkin was quick and friendly and we were shown where our lots were located. Access to the driveway made for an easier loading of items

All the staff from Alderfer auctions are very nice and friendly and helpful. Especially Jim at the sign in table. Hope he gets well soon and can return to his job. The only negative thing is the 23% fee for buying. That is really high, one of the highest fees I’ve seen if not the actual highest. Not sure why it has to be that high? Maybe 5-10% would be better. Anyway, I give them 5 stars cause they are nice people to deal with. I wish they would go more towards Berks county as that’s closer to where I live. It’s usually an hour + drive to pickups. Hope this is helpful.

We dealt with multiple people and had multiple auctions with Alderfer and the staff were all amazing! Especially Blake and Jill… they were thoughtful, great communicators and helpful during each step of our auctions processes. We are extremely thankful for Alderfer Auctions!

We used Alderfers for an estate auction when we were moving out of state. Every person who we dealt with was friendly and capable, and we sold over 98 percent of our items. We were very happy with the whole experience.
