Raccoon Creek State Park is a beautiful and spacious outdoor area located in Western Pennsylvania, a bit of a drive from Pittsburgh but well worth the trip. The park features a large creek, which may be a lake, and offers boat rentals such as kayaks and water bikes for visitors seeking water activities. The park's well-marked trails are popular for hiking, with options that include forest trails with ascents and descents, as well as the Mineral Springs Loop Trail, which is suitable for children. Visitors can enjoy gorgeous views of the lake and explore areas like the wildflower garden and rock building site. The park also provides a nice camping experience with well-spaced backpacking sites that include picnic tables and fire pits, making it a great spot for tent camping and outdoor adventures. While the park offers many highlights, visitors should be aware of some challenges, such as ticks on the trails, and the absence of cellphone coverage in certain areas, which can be a positive or negative depending on preferences. Amenities like bathrooms can become less clean over time, and some nearby campers may be noisy, so it’s good to camp with this in mind. Overall, Raccoon Creek State Park is a true gem, perfect for hiking, camping, and enjoying nature with family and friends.

Great place to hike and kyak. Trails are well maintained and the people who work and oversee the park do a great job.
