I was there for a class birthday party as we all celebrate our 75th this year. First time I had been there as U now live out of town. It's a beautiful place. Our food was excellent right down to the homemade birthday cake. It was also good value for the buffet.Service was good and a bar that could mix anything. I would definitely recommend it for any large party, wedding, or celebration.

Place was beautifulOwner was not. Watch every move that everybody made.Wanted things cleaned up before reception was over or she would start throwing things out .They were actually sweeping the floor while people were still dancing and mopping the bar floor while people were still standing there. An older lady who I was sitting with was cold even though she had a jacket on. When the older lady the older lady commented owner said she should have worn a jacket. Also I understand that owner kept leftover reception food

This place is absolutely gorgeous! We had our work Christmas party there and it is quite the venue! The were 2 out of thr 3 bartenders who acted like they were robots and the meat we got with our catered dinner was a bit dry. Overall really nice experience.

I don’t recommend having your wedding here unless you enjoy having no idea what’s going one. Just had my wedding at The Red Fern on October 1st. Leading up to the wedding was stressful solely due to very little communication from the owner. I called almost on a monthly basis for about 8 months asking questions and trying to get solid answers on how the day will go. Each time I spoke with Sue, the owner, she was short and condescending. I had been trying to set up a taste test since January. At first she said they did not offer them. Eventually I had gotten permission from her for one but she would not allow me to schedule one until July. Then when I contacted her in July, she told me not until September. Finally in September, she told me there was not enough time to have one. 3 weeks prior to our wedding, I contacted her to meet to set our final guest amount, menu, etc. since she had not contacted me. We met 1 week prior to the wedding and finally had gotten an invoice 5 days prior.Day of wedding the bridesmaids all show up to begin getting ready. Everything went smooth until I was about to walk down the isle. My flower girl had a small basket with fabric flower petals. Sue yelled at her and told her she was not allowed to toss them. During the reception, she yelled at several guests to sit down (including my grandmother), told people to “control” their children (they were running around as small children do), and yelled at staff in front of guest. Sue was very unprofessional and I would recommend having your wedding somewhere with less stress and confrontation. The venue is beautiful but not worth the hassle. On the other hand, all of the wait staff and bartenders were amazing! I commend them for having to put up with her on a daily basis.

So, I am typically not one to leave reviews but with the experience that I had here I felt that it was necessary. I recently got married there 10.29.2022. The venue is absolutely beautiful.. but honestly that’s about it. The owner, Sue is incredibly condescending and her communication is incredibly poor. When I first met with her to discuss what I wanted which was having a cathedral style for our ceremony and how many guests I would be having, she promised me basically anything I wanted. Please keep in mind no contract is provided so she can change rules anytime she wants. I also discussed with one of her staff members while she was out about extending our reception hours and that person said we could for a price, which makes sense. Well, ONE MONTH before the wedding I call her to discuss details and she tried to get out of doing the cathedral style because “she didn’t know if she could do that many people” (she never gave me a person limit on the cathedral style), she told me I couldn’t extend reception hours because of PA liquor law (our reception ended at 9:30pm and we confirmed with a reliable source that her excuse of liquor law was basically a lie and when we confronted her she changed her whole story), then after telling me and family members we could have a s’mores bar, she tried telling us no. She also never reached out to us to talk about the details of the wedding so in the stressful setting of getting caught up planning the other events of the wedding does not help you stay calm, on top of that when she would reach out you could see given the examples she had a tendency to go back on her word. She also made one of my guests cry because she assumed the individual wasn’t 21 and ripped her drink out of her hand and yelled at her (the individual was 21) Lastly, she tried to overcharge us and when confronted she laughed in my fiancés face and told him “well yeah prices change”. I really am not one to bash a business or an individual online, but honestly she made the whole experience sad, stressful, and very frustrating when it’s supposed to be the most exciting time of our lives. She also made condescending remarks to the maid of honor saying “there are people here who did not RSVP” when she was never given a list of people who RSVP’d rather just the amount of people coming to the wedding. I personally feel like your best bet is to go another route or be ready to keep record of everything she says and work very hard to stand up for yourself otherwise it will not be your wedding but her wedding. The lack of communication and the condescending attitude towards every question you ask and every correction you try to make is incredibly degrading and disrespectful. The one star I gave was for the Venue and for the workers that were apart of the cleaning crew. All super nice and deserve to be recognized. Other than that I would give 0/5 stars and would heavily advise to look elsewhere.
