We waited 45 minutes to get in, we were there at 10:45 for an 11 o’clock appointment and didn’t get seen until 11:30. I understand there’s a limited amount of exam rooms but don’t book yourself back to back if you can’t do it. When we did get seen, we tried to tell the vet what was wrong and what symptoms we had written down and they seemed so uninterested and always seemed to try and change the subject. They said they were going to try and get a urine sample to see if my cat had a uti, never did, but then gave my cat the shot for a uti without knowing if he had one or not. We went in for a problem of him not using his litter box and only left with ear drops and carpet cleaner. I’m not saying we didn’t need both of them, I’m just stating we went in with a litter box problem but left with something completely unrelated and no answers about him not using the box. We went to another vet and got an answer in under an hour. This new vet had also said that if I didn’t get this treated my cat would’ve died. I do not recommend this vet.

Not happy with service waste of time an money. The vet was very afraid of my pet she immediately wanted to put a muzzle on my dog. My dog is very friendly an non-aggressive. They acted like he was going to bite them. They truly need to learn on how to handle an treat bigger dogs.....I don't recommend them

Dr. Rodkey and all of the vet techs here are wonderful. You can tell how much she really cares about the animals she treats. She's super knowledgeable, kind, and attentive. And the techs are just awesome...I brought my cat in recently and he had an accident in his carrier on the way in. They were so nice about it, got him cleaned up and they even took his carrier back and cleaned that for me too which I was SO grateful for! It may seem like something small but I have been to many vet offices and they are not all so gracious. Thank you to all the kind staff here :)

I would NEVER take a pet to them. My cat has suffered seizures since she was a kitten. When Dr Bob was there he knew her medicine couldn't be lowered therefore knew we didn't need to continue blood work but that wasn't good enough for Dr Morgan. We even signed a waiver but still in time if we didn't have blood work he wouldn't prescribe her medicine so I agreed to have it annually and then he decided he needed to add a new medication because her levels were to high. She started to deteriorate. She even started never getting out of her litterbox. She only came out to eat. Then 6 months after her blood work I needed a refill on her medicine the office called back and said she needed blood work again so she could have her refill. I said she wasn't due for 6 months. He said he wouldn't give her a refill . I said I didn't have another $280 for more blood work. I said I won't be back. She was almost 13 and he se would be notified when she died so that her chart could be closed. She was so skinny at this point and loosing her hair. I thought for sure she was going to die soon. My husband and I got to discussing it and thought what would it hurt to start her on hemp. We bought some. It now has been around 8 months and she has put her weight back on and her hair is back. She follows us around again like a puppy. So in my opinion it is all about the money and not about the true caring of the animal

I LOVE this place! When I adopted my puppy we were there almost every week for like 2 or 3 months because she had alot of issues. The staff is amazing! Very kind and caring, they also take the time to explain things to you. I highly reccomend them!I have used then for regular appointments, DNA testing, and she even needed an emergency surgery. I am very happy with all of my experiences there.

My dog has been to some very high end vets in Pittsburgh and Dr. Rodkey and Dr. Morgan have done better than any place I’ve ever taken her, by far. My previous vet insisted that there wasn’t a way to accurately test for hip dysplasia and scoffed at me when I brought it up that I thought my dog had it when she was as little as 1 year old. She said it “wasn’t in her breed” (Wrong). So I brushed it off for over 3 years until I started noticing some other habits that pointed to it. I took her to Dr. Rodkey who took an x ray and did multiple other things to determine that yes my dog did in fact have hip dysplasia. She also caught something on her bloodwork that has been showing up abnormal since she was born (other vet did not notify me about this or try to treat it over all that time), and put her on the appropriate medication right away. All of the staff are so friendly and kind and you can tell that every person who works there loves and adores animals. The vets are always willing to listen and answer any questions, without being rude and talking down on you like some other places!!! I refuse to take my dog anywhere else. They have helped her tremendously and I am so thankful.

Don't go there. Won't make time for your pet's emergencies. Just there for the money and when you need help they're not there for you.

I hate to do this because they really are very friendly, BUT they take full advantage of people who will do anything for their pets! In one year I've given them probably close to $7000!This year has been a hard one for my pets, but to have a 4 month old puppy for observation overnight because he was throwing up, maybe gave him an IV with fluids and a couple meds....$1100+ dollars??!! I just cannot pay their prices any longer. One time it's a $99 emergency visit fee, then it changed to $199! One pet had 4 xrays done and it was maybe $30...next dog 2 xrays cost me almost $300! I understand some prices can vary on size of the pet, but there are a lot of things that should have standard pricing!Ready for the kicker? I called today to get copies off all my pets records...a $5 fee for them to pull each file and $1 per page! I have 4 pets that I take there! Let's see if they can squeeze another couple hundred outta me before I fully leave! Unbelievable!

Took our golden retriever for her first shots here. Spent over 300$ for a vet check up & 2 shots. Extremely expensive. Also asked why she may be having the runs (she was still little at the time) gave her meds they didn’t help. But decided to give it another try went back for her still having the runs and they said well you were supposed to come in 2 weeks after for a check up. NO ONE TOLD ME THAT. I would ask a question about my pup or why something was going on with her and they would give me the run around not a direct answer. The place is not very clean & lastly the receptionist is very rude. I WILL NOT be returning & do not recommend this vet if you care about your animals.

I'm loving the way Dr. Morgan is working "with us" and our dogs! One of the dogs has never shown much energy and had supposedly been tested. Since Dr. Morgan started treating him for his thyroid recently, he's keeping up on walks, is so much more playful and happier than I've seen him since he was a puppy! The other 2 had their first visit yesterday. They did very well! I switched vets because the one I was using was overwhelmed with appointments. Plus I was concerned over the mix ups in treatments for 2 of them. It was hard to get a timely appointment for their regular shots. We're all caught up and more at Altmeyers!!

Dr. Rodkey and Dr. Morgan are the kindest, most compassionate people you will find. They saved our Nigerian Dwarf when no one else would take the emergency call. He would not have made it through the night without them. Your pets are in good hands at Altmeyer Veterinary Hospital.Thank you, Dr. Rodkey and Morgan!! Love, Marty!

Things are not the same since Dr Altmeyer retired. No consideration for your time. Receptionist extremely rude. Waiting room was dirty. Wont be back.

They always treat our pets with the utmost care and us as well. They are very informative and caring in their handling of our fur babies and treat them effectively and efficiently. I wish I remember her name, but the female veterinarian treated both of our cats, she is an AMAZING person with a beautiful kind heart.

Very long story short; I have a kitty w belly issues & saw Dr rodkey as a 2nd opinion. They have done tests & a procedure that no other vet would do. It is not the answer; but helps her 2 be more comfortable. Once they tried all they could; they gave me a referral for an office w an internal medicine vet that they were hopeful would help. Still going there 2 work on a plan 4 my baby girl. We also have been moving r other kitties there. Dr rodkey will stay l8 & call aftr hours - vry transparent with pricing as well - she has been great & so have the vet techs. Highly recommend!

Very good first time experience. Staff was great. Vet was understanding and broke down costs.
