Tried to scam us into paying 15k for repairs that wasn't needed. Got a second opinion and by some miracle only the alternator needed replaced. These people are scam artists

Worst car buying experience. Set an appt to see a vehicle. Drove 2 1/2 hours one direction to carmax lancaster. Vehicle wasnt prepped, wasnt even given a quick wash. While going over information and paperwork, they decided to clean the car. The front hood and bumper had rock chip damage and touch up paint dripped onto the areas, looked horrible. Was told i could take it to local carmax and it would be repainted. They clearly dont inspect vehicles properly like they claim. Took it to Edison location to get that, one piece of window trim fixed, and theres a stained circle mark on seat. They gave me a loaner with a nail in tire, they reset the tpms, did no walk around inspection with me. The vehicle had past due service warning as well. I drove home thinking it might just be the sensor. They made an appt for tire shop to look at it, it had a nail close to sidewall, they didnt stock run flats. So carmax disregarded my safety. Had another loaner dropped off, this one as well has past due service warning. Meanwhile the loaners rhey give are cars for sale. Makes you question their honesty, integrity, business ethics, and lack of safety concerns. I Get my car back after 15 days, theres an 1-2 inch imperfection on bumper and they didnt fix the seat or window trim. They claim part for window trim isnt available, i looked, it is, they clearly forgot. Said i can take to another dealer and theyll pay. Go to title and register the car, they signed title in wrong spot, NJ turned me away. Call lancaster and it takes them 1 1/2 weeks to get me new title. Go back to NJ mvc and was charged additional $270.34 sales tax, mvc said they did their numbers wrong. lancaster said theyll look into it and then next day said theres nothing theyll do further. Took the car today to get emissions inspection for NJ and they failed me for fuel system. So after all this time, money, blatanr disregard for my safety, the window trim wasnt fixed, im out additional money, lost hours at work for dealing with all this, and now the car wont pass emmisions. I had to shorten the entire ordeal due to googles limits. Every person ive dealt with with carmax has messed up and or made this buying process/ experience harder and unenjoyable. Its now been over 60 days and issues still popping up and prior ones not rectified. The vehicle is a 2018. No one should have to go thru all this, deal with the sheer incompetence, and excusew from multiple carmax dealers. Will be looking into legal options.

As a previous employee it's a complete disaster. Whether you're an employee or customer. Non stop newly sold cars come back. I missed a few days from a car accident and the flu and lost my position. Loss prevention accused me of something where as the warranty company came out and confirmed it to get the customer a new motor. Their own people agreed and approved the job proving i was correct... Tim, Troy are puppets with false precedence.Joined together against me up to push me out. Claimed i commited fraud but all i did was tell the truth and i can prove it. I got the customer a new engine after the vehicle sat there for a month.Their service team tries and are under paid, also lack complete mechanical knowledge. I'm publicly disgusted with their false employee succession plans it's a dead end customer or employee. Highly not recommended. I wish I could give 0 stars I spent 100s on uniform stuff that I'll never use. All there cars have issues but they push them and they come back to service. Buyer beware !! Almost all their cars have body work and there service department has to deal with all the missed malfunctions. STAY AWAY !!!!Tim, Troy, you have anything to say you have my number. I have no respect for either of you. Best put is scam artistI was forced to resign or be fired. 21 years in the business and this has been the worst place I ever worked..They are not employee oriented unless you're a slave and when you act in the best interest of the customer they brag that they take care of it but that's only because you purchased a car that's had a lot of work to get it on their retail line. Their staff is great but their process across the country is profound

End of August I dropped my car off at the garage I was using for an issue when the car was turned on from sitting for a few hours. Come to find out it was the timing chain. So glad I bought the warranty, which can be a headache in itself with what it covers, being the motor should have been no problem. Add that this garage used the company before for previous warranty issue. Warranty company wanted me to approve the motor torn down, which meant if they didn’t approve I was out the full bill. Called into service center at this Carmax and spoke with Charlie who went above and beyond on my concerns. Even taking the invoice, looking it over and insuring it would be covered by the warranty company. Fast forward to the slow work of the other garage and the “final” invoice is in and warranty was only covering part of it leaving the rest to me. Again called Charlie and between the help of him and Dante in service they found out why it wasn’t being covered and it was the fact the “work” to be done was over the value of my car. Again Charlie stepped in and helped to get the rest covered by warranty to leave the deductible. Again to the speed of the garage after almost 4 months I get a call from Charlie about the added bill from them as I didn’t know it was even ready. We talked over it and he was going to speak to said garage but due to that garage taking the warranty company for a loop I paid the remaining balance to get it and was quickly squeezed in to have it looked over that the worked done and charged for was completed. With Charlie and Dante still willing to help with the added charges from the other garage if they could. Moral to the story these guys were great with the customer service and only bring your car to them for warranty issues in my opinion and work. Outstanding of them to make things right and I thank them through all the time it took to get my car back and communication throughout the process!

I found the car and had it shipped to my local CarMax. Went in to test drive it and then started the paperwork. 2 things stand out - express pick up is not so express. Took an hour to read and sign/initial all the papers. The car was not detailed - windshield was covered with towel marks and the car was clearly not vacuumed. The license plate was not installed on the new car either. After an hour or so would have thought that was completed.

I came here to sell my Toyota Tacoma. Everyone who helped us, Catherine, Annie and Jen. They were very knowledgeable and friendly ! Although I'm not looking to get another car at the moment I did walk around the lot and they have a good selection with affordable prices. They have a cute little waiting room and two vending machines which is nice. Everyone else seemed in a good mood and like they would be friendly if we needed help. Overall very happy with my experience here and I'll be back if I need to sell another car! Thanks CarMax ?.
