A black staff member who does the security snapped at me for moving a chair which is very odd so I can't even get comfortable at a library like it's literally a public library and they barely gave me a reason why just made me feel patronize. I was even going to move it back to where it was placed like the way he came at me made it seem like it would be a big deal or it'll harm him somehow such a strange individual. But the library has a lot of books I just rarely come here though since everything is online now.

We walked into the Lancaster Public Library, and my first thought was that they’re doing renovations on the first floor. However, the children’s library was clean, spacious, and impressive. There’s plenty of room for kids and parents, with several areas for reading, playing board games, and watching videos. The first floor overall felt a bit mid, but the exterior design of the building is really nice. And the sculpture of Barney Ewell outside is absolutely awesome.

Nice place. Well designed. A little something there for the whole family. If your just looking for a nice quiet place to get wchool work or a project of some sort done i recommend the library.

Love this place. And ms Shannon is the best. I've been together libraries and the baby and toddler story time is quite boring. But she's so animated and loving and really engaging. I drive from East Pete just to go to her and this library. They offer so many great workshops and events.

Beautifully remodeled library. I wish there was a free parking lot nearby, but I guess that is ok since this is near the center of the city.

This place has the bones to be a killer library and probably one of the best in the state. I think its still getting set up, and I read from another reviewer that there was some recent flooding damage which explains the book carts and an awkward set up inside right now.

Observing the transformation was intriguing. They previously operated on Duke Street. Regrettably, they experienced flooding and a significant portion of their inventory was lost. The staff were extremely cooperative, amiable, and considerate.

Went for the first time 4/15/25. The first floor still had a large amount of damage from the flooding. Specifically I went for the children's library to introduce my daughter to more books outside of what she has at home. The staff member on duty was very helpful and my daughter was also signed up for the 1000 books before kindergarten program. I haven't attended any programs or events yet however I am excited to try the toddler and baby events for my children. I can't speak for the selection of adult books however I was impressed with the children's library. We will be back.
Update: We have gone to several of the storytimes for children, and the kids love it. My husband has also found lots of books he likes to read. We go at least every other week now.

First and foremost, the library is flooded with homeless individuals from the area. Some books are in good shape, yet some should be removed from shelves with how bent out of shape they are. There is tons of office space/study areas, but it's hard to avoid the homeless throughout the building. The most peaceful spot is the young adult section. There also isn't any free parking, so unless you are walking, be prepared to navigate a parking garage. If you read the response received from the library regarding my review, it confirms my statements on the parking situation. They reiterated the fact that there is parking on the street or in garages. Both need to be paid for.
