I had an incredibly disappointing experience at Pep Boys. When I walked in, I was not greeted or acknowledged. The employee assisting me seemed visibly annoyed by my presence, despite the fact that I was a paying customer. He was short, unhelpful, and failed to explain anything. I had to ask multiple clarifying questions just to understand what was happening with MY car. He held out his hand for my key, and was still barely saying anything. I don’t think it is insane for me to expect an explanation or a time frame.
I made an appointment at 1:30 to have a tire plugged because it had a screw in it. When I made the appointment, I was told it would take around an hour. I planned to wait in the area. While dropping off my car, I asked the employee how long it would take just to make sure. He said that he doesn’t know, and that I’ll get a text. My car wasn’t ready until 6. As a college student with no one nearby to help, I wasn’t prepared to be without a ride and ended up having to Uber twice. I would have no problem if they told me from the beginning how long it was going to take.
When I returned to pick up my car, the same employee continued with the same dismissive attitude. He didn’t inform me of what was done to my car, didn’t tell me the total at checkout, and even began closing the register while I stood there, not knowing what was going on. But when a male customer approached after me, his entire attitude changed. Now he was polite, cheerful, and engaging.
Additionally, the technician who worked on my car, left a lug nut on my floor along with its now torn packaging on my seat. Worst of all, he failed to secure my spare tire, leaving it loose in my trunk, which ended up denting a water bottle I had back there. This kind of careless and unprofessional behavior is unacceptable. If Pep Boys cares about customer service, they should take a hard look at how their staff treats people. I won’t be returning.

Horrible customer service, severely overcharged for work that needed done. Total cost almost $1000 over quote that was given for the work even though not all the work was completed. They ruined a part I bought and provided even though I was told it couldn’t be used.

I came here for an all 4 tire change. The CRV was rumbling bad and making a loud banging sound. It got worse over a few days. Vehicle pulled to the left as well. I decided to jack my car up and check them myself. The wheels were completely loose! I literally could unscrew the bolts with my hand and they came right off. All 4 tires were like that. The driver's side front was especially bad. I could of lost a rim on the road leading to a very serious accident. Upon tightening all 4 tires properly! The suv ran fine. Never ever go here! That was a ridiculous life threatening mistake. I've never seen such incompotece in my life. If you value your life go somewhere else. If I could give zero stars I would.

My daughter had a 2 pm appointment to get her oil changed. She was home from college and only had 1 day for her car to be serviced, so she made an appointment. When she arrived she was told, sorry we can’t do your oil change today. If you knew you couldn’t do the oil change then 1. You don’t schedule it, 2. You make a phone call to reschedule. Horrible customer service-will not go back

The people that I spoke to were accommodating and transparent except when I scheduled. When I schedule they said it should take 1hr which is what I expected but when I showed up to my appointment I was told that it wouldn’t be ready until the afternoon. My appointment was 9am and my car was not ready until about 2pm. It’s fine if it took that long I just wish I was told ahead of time so I could have planned accordingly because I thought I was gonna sit there for one hour and then be able to go to work, but that changed and I had to Uber back to my apartment, work from home, and then Uber to pick it back up. Also, their emissions tester was not working, so that made the appointment longer because they had to send my car somewhere else and then bring it back to finish inspection. Then 2 hours after I got my car back I opened my trunk to see that my car was not put back in original condition—they changed my brake light at the top backside of my car—they didn’t but the cover back on, which I was able to do on my own, but they could have at least checked that my car was back in original condition before returning it to me. So basically if they were just transparent about the equipment and timeframe when I was scheduling and returned my car back the way I gave it to them. This review wouldn’t have been as lengthy.

I took my car in to replace four tires. Not only was the associate rude, but seemed annoyed by my being there. No greeting or really any contact expect to put his hand out for the keys. I had a scheduled appointment and the technician called to see if I could come in early. I rearranged some things and got there when they asked me to. I asked how long the appointment would take and he rudely said they will text me when it’s ready. It took over 5 hours for installation of my tires. After about 4 hours the same technician told me my brakes and rotors both needed to be replaced for a total of almost $2000.00. I declined for them to do the work as my car was being inspected in a few days with my regular mechanic. Not to my surprise my brakes were perfectly fine and the rotors did not need replaced. I can only assume, as I am a woman being at this establishment without my husband present, they thought I was an easy target. I will never return there for anything, and I advise all who do, be aware and do some research before you get overcharged for items you do not need.

Have a flat, pulled up two hours before closing and they had no workers able to help me. Why are you open until 7 if you have no available staff to assist?
Also had to wait at the help counter for 5-10 minutes before anyone came to assist me.

Why does it take professionals longer to change tires in an auto garage with equipment than it does for me, an old man, to change a flat on the side of the road? Then they want to give me a laundry list of things it “needed” to a tune of over $2000! And then when you walk up to the counter nobody will even acknowledge that you’re there. Pisspoor! I’ll never go back!

Never again will I visit the Pep Boys on Fruitville Pike. The staff were very rude rude. Twice I took my car there and both times they wanted to charge me twice as much as the dealership. If I hadn't shopped around I would not have known. When I called them out on it they quickly changed the pricing. If you have other options "Do Not do Business There"

I came into the store and stood in front of the counter to ask a question and I was completely ignored for about five minutes. No communication, no acknowledgement at all. It was so odd that multiple personnel didn’t think it was important to say, “Hi, how can I help you?”. I can’t speak to the service, but I found customer courtesy to be very poor.

The service here is terrible! What is the purpose of online appointment if it holds no value. They let people who have not scheduled a appointment in front of you. They added things to bill that was not explained in phone call. The person working with me rushed me to make a expensive decision. I said I needed to think over the work, you think that would me give me like 30 mins or a little time. The gentleman calls back five mins later just to say the technician is leaving in ten mins so if you need your car fixed today they are out. This was frustrating when talking about a $2,000 repair. Why was I rushed when they are open till 7pm and it was 1pm. My appointment was at 10am so they waited to call me ten mins before the tech was leaving. I needed my car back and it was in for inspection, so I had no choice. Will never come here again

I made an appointment for my brakes to be replaced and have a state inspection. They did the state inspection, and told me I didn’t need brakes. I have obvious Violent shaking when I press the brakes and hear, squealing and noise when I’m press the brakes. When I reminded them of this, they told me that it must be my rotors, and that I would have to schedule another appointment to have that done because they were too busy. I dropped off my vehicle at 7:45 AM, and took an Uber to work. I then took an Uber from work back to Pep Boys to pick up my car. I went out of my way for this appointment. They didn’t do the work that I scheduled. And told me we don’t have time to do the work that you scheduled. Terrible business practice. That’s not cool.
