President James Buchanan's Wheatland is a well-maintained historic home with most of the original furniture and personal belongings. The tour guides are excellent, very informative, knowledgeable, and dressed in period clothing. The holiday and regular tours are highly recommended, focusing on the home and its owner. An interesting special exhibit on justice in the area is also noted. The small gift shop offers unique gifts and books. It is considered a wonderful treasure and a must-visit in Lancaster, with an interesting tour suitable for older children and adults.

If you enjoy history, stop by this former house of President James Buchanan, the only bachelor U.S. president. If you want to go inside, you have to book a guided tour. Scheduled tours only. Guide didn't answer much if it wasn't part of her script. Also a history museum in a modern building but I didn't spend much time there; it was close to closing time.
