Today I submitted a lawsuit against cubesmart for deceptive trade practices, fraud, breach of contract and damages. They do not have an iota of customer care or troubleshooting as they failed to respond to emails or certified mail. In reference to Hamilton, OH location and the DM (Richard)…
Original: one of my units were auctioned off one for than what was owed on it but almost 2 months later they have yet to refund me the difference which they are legally required to do. No one knows what to do and the DM says…I will send an an email…I checked a report. The unit being auctioned was strictly my fault as I was sick for an extended time and thought it was on auto-pay. The contents of the unit being sold is strictly on me, and no fault of location.
Update: I was informed there would be no added fees so the check could come in. It came in on a Tuesday, and I immediately deposited it at the bank branch. It cleared on Friday, and I went Friday to pay for the units. There were around an extra $250 worth of fees on my accounts. Though k was told there would be no added fees, there are and the District Manager (Richard) refuses to remove them. I did everything that was asked; and on there end, they kept zero of the word. It took over 2 months to receive the check.

🚫 AVOID CUBESMART ALTAMONTE SPRINGS — Deceptive, Harassing, and Unprofessional Management
Do yourself a favor and don’t fall for the so-called “specials” at CubeSmart in Altamonte Springs. What starts off sounding like a great deal turns into an absolute nightmare the second you sign up.
Before renting, I had a phone conversation with GM CHAD MILLER, where I explained up front that my boyfriend—a respected vintage clothing collector—would be using the unit to store clothing, take photos of his pieces, and post them on his website to showcase his finds. Nothing was being sold from the unit. There were no customers, no foot traffic, no business being conducted—just someone documenting and preserving vintage clothes. Chad said this was 100% fine.
Then the harassment began. Suddenly, we’re being accused of running a business—with zero proof. No evidence, no complaints, just assumptions.
And here’s where the nonsense really kicked in:
• Their website states unit access from 6AM to 10PM. But because my boyfriend is sometimes there 30 minutes, sometimes up to 2 hours, they claimed that was “excessive.” I asked: Is there a time limit during access hours? They couldn’t answer. Because there is no policy.
• We brought a personal power bank, charged off-site, to light the unit—because the lighting they provide is awful. That, too, was suddenly “not allowed,” but once again—no written policy to show for it.
• We had a desk and chair in the unit purely for storage. No electronics, no monitor—yet they claimed we were “setting up an office.” Completely baseless.
When I asked very direct, reasonable questions like, “If someone with OCD wants to come organize their unit every day, is that a violation?”—no one could give a straight answer.
And when I called about ending the lease, I was told I had to give two weeks’ notice—but the CubeSmart website clearly says just clean out the unit and remove your lock. When I confronted them with that, they immediately changed their story to match the website. So which is it?
💢 The staff is rude. The rules are made up. The management, especially Chad Miller, is dishonest and manipulative. They tell you what you want to hear until you’re locked in, and then do everything they can to make your experience miserable.
I will be contacting corporate. I’ll be posting this experience everywhere it matters.
If you value truth, privacy, and integrity—STAY FAR AWAY.

Renting it is simple. But the units do not have climate control (or it is not working) - and that was at their HQ in Malvern - PA.

Theresa is a genuinely kind and caring woman to deal with. You can feel that she takes pride in not just her job but in customer service and is very attune to each customer’s separate needs. I’m very grateful for the interactions I have had with her as she has made some seemingly stressful times so much easier!

They evicted the entire third floor so the can have more office space. What are you supposed to do if you have multiple units? Eat the cost of moving again and take time off work after being a loyal customer? Also know they will regularly raise the rent. My rent was 33% higher than when I moved in after less than a year.

Never EVER do business with this place! They don't care about their customers. I highly recommend Life Storage instead! They will actually work with you if you are going through hardship. Cubesmart only cares about their money. I had my car stolen back in September. The fiasco cost me a lot of money and I was late on my September payment. I tried to make the September payment on the next due date and told them I would be late in my October payment as well since I am trying to recover financially. They told me they didn't care and that I have to pay it or THEY WOULD ADD A $110 LIEN. I would be recovered in November and be able to make timely payments again. Lord knows the way the economy is right now, the cost of living is already difficult. I actually tried to switch a smaller less expensive unit while I was in town in september (I moved out of state) to handle the car theft situation but unfortunately the car theft fiasco took longer than expected and I was not able to make my appointment to switch units. I also did not have any money to make a trip back to Schaumburg IL all the way from Texas. They Don't care. Gail Johnson who is the district manager was supposed to call me to find resolution but she never called. She's terrible and only cares about herself and her money at the end of the day.

The answering machine says there number one in customer service. So have called for days because of a problem with my unit and have not received a call back. The people who do answer just transfer me and it’s always a machine. If you like driving to your storage unit to ask a simple question than this is a place for you. If you love being on hold to end up with an answering machine, then this is a place for you!
