About a year ago I went in to help my mom get a new phone. While setting up the phone the sales people offered a deal to upgrade our shared plan with the senior discount that would apply to both phones on the account. I was then told that is only possible if we upgraded our plan to a higher tier. I was hesitant but they insisted that the discount would apply to both phone plans and bring our total bill down dramatically making each line just $40 instead of the $80+. After clarifying multiple times I agreed. A few months in we realized we were being charged more than ever and so I call the store to get clarity. Since then I have been stuck in a loop needing to contact the franchise manager and Verizon themselves. Version says that plan should have never been sold as the senior discount only applies to one line. I called the store back and they keep saying they will move it up the chain with no follow up. Verizon and the store continue to close my cases with no resolution. My mom has been a customer of Verizon for 35 years and now stuck in a phone payment plan that doesn't make it easy to move service providers. At this point we had paid far more than we would have if I never upgraded our plan and no one has been held accountable for selling me faulty information. At this point I am exhausted with all the calls and back and forth and will admit this is my call for attention as nothing else has been working. My suggestion would be for folks to stick with an actual Verizon store so you don't get stuck in the middle like we are.
