Stayed 2 nights while attending ski clinic at Whitetail Resort. Room was nice, bed very comfortable. Very convenient to Whitetail Resort.Tomi (proprietor) was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is listed as being available starting at 8. I needed to leave before 8 for my clinic each morning and Tomi served me breakfast at 7:15 each morning. In the past when I have gone to Whitetail I have stayed in chain hotels in Hagerstown but the Inn was around the same price and much more convenient.Slight aside: The dining room was not open the nights I stayed and I went to Stoners Tavern a few blocks away one night. Fish and chips were fabulous and they have around 25 varieties of beer and ale on tap.

This place is great -- it's like a time machine into a stately 19th century manor with the comforts of the modern age, like WIFI and electric heating. It's the little touches throughout that show the innkeepers really care about their place -- for example, you get to select what you'd like for breakfast the night before and at what time, when you come down to the dining room, it's promptly served to you and it taste like a homecooked breakfast. When we departed, we received a nice little gift bag with snacks and water. There are adorable, whimsical crocheted decor accents throughout the inn. There's a chessboard in the parlor. The rooms are decorated with taste and retain their 19th century charm with vintage furniture and wall tapestries. To sum up, this Inn is an experience, not just a place to spend the night on the road.

My wife and I just spent our 13th anniversary in the Marie Claire suite. We loved it. Nice spacious room, well decorated and comfortable. We really loved sleeping with the dim flicker of the gas fireplace.Breakfast both days was wonderful, as we each enjoyed the quiche, coffee cake, fresh fruit and juice. We were able to try the dinner service on one evening, and we very much enjoyed that too. I had the salmon, and my wife had the filet. Both were well cooked and presented. My only critique would be that they were both a little underseasoned, at least for my taste. The turtle pie and the apple pie for dessert were well worth finding space in our stomachs for!Overall, I would very much recommend, as well as come again!Nearby activities: Gettysburg is a relatively short, scenic drive.

Went to a family gathering for lunch. We didn't stay at the inn, so I can't speak about the rooms, but the lunch was nice and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They don't have a wheelchair ramp yet, but they were very helpful in getting my wife into the building. I was told that's the next project. Worth a stay if you like historical places. ?

Let me start by saying that I rarely leave poor reviews of anywhere, and I have been ALL OVER. My wife worked in this industry and I believe that if someone is going to spend their money they should know the truth. The building is beautiful and location is great. However, the décor is very tired thrift ship furniture, not befitting the grandeur of the site. And be aware, no TV's in the rooms. (that didn't bother us)Customer service was nonexistent. Many of the guests were not told that the kitchen was closed due to a wedding when they booked and had to make other arrangements for dinner. (a heads up would have been nice) In the bar that evening we were all asked to leave, without warning, as they decided to close at 9 pm because the bartender was tired... None of the guests were pleased as no one wanted to drive down the street to another bar after drinking. We all wanted to have a few drinks an go upstairs to our rooms, Not too much to ask, or again, a heads up.The staff lacked any sense of proper dress and obviously had little to no training, especially table service.Breakfast was absolutely horrible! Obvious prepackaged, warmed up food, bruised, well passed sell by date fruit, just awful. For the price and selling point of being the swankiest place it town, it was severely lacking.

just want to thank Tomi for a very enjoyable visit. Room 4 was great with our very own balcony! As for Byron's restaurant, the dinner was outstanding! Our server Emma was awesome. A window seat with candles and classical music playing made it a magical evening to celebrate Christmas. Donna and I stayed here over a year ago. It was very nice to be back at this special inn again in December 2022. A small suggestion, please add Ruby Port or Sherry to your limited alcohol selection at your bar.Rooms: The rooms are very clean and unique. Luxury for a turn of the century mansion.Walkability: There is no elevator. The steps are easy to navigate.Food & drinks: Food and Drink was exceptional.

This is the second year the company I work for has rented out the Inn, and both years have been AMAZING! All of the rooms are comfortable and unique. The beds, linens and duvets are luxurious. Tomi and the rest of the staff are so nice and hospitable. The food is delicious and the Inn is beautiful! We can't wait to return again next year! Thanks, Tomi and the rest of the staff!

Multiple members of my family have stayed at this historic Inn in the past. I stayed in 2011 in the main house. This time I was lucky enough to stay in the Carriage House which had a much bigger suite and a soaker jet tub. Highly recommend! The feather bed was exquisite! Peaceful quiet and the place to myself! I'll be back?

Gorgeous building and grounds. Nice staff. BUT, in dire need of updating - our room needs painting and new (or shampooed) carpet - furniture throughout is worn and doesn't even match. Staff is nice but need training ! Breakfast is very poor - only premade casseroles or eggs that have been watered down. The only really GOOD thing here is dinner - they have a good chef and the food is very good. HOWEVER - the wait staff is not properly trained on how to serve in a fine dining establishment. Plates are whipped away when one person is done (don't wait for both) - wait staff dress dressed in dirty clothing... Wine list is dreadful and dreadfully overpriced for the items on it. Nothing good or interesting. Wait staff are also bar tenders and told us "we can look it up in the book" when asking about having a Cosmo... Clearly no knowledgeable about wine or mixed drinks. Worst of all - owners are not present or helping their staff!!! On Thanksgiving the wait staff were clearly over worked - service was dreadful - with one owner flitting through asking "everything good?" - Owners live on site but seem to be very "hands off". Only a quick run through saying "everything good?" ... This place could be wonderful - but needs a lot of updating and training to get there. On the good side - great pillows!!!!!!!!!!!!

A wonderful place for a romantic weekend getaway. We were there for one of the Wine Weekend events and we met some great people, drank some amazing wine and generally had a great experience with Sommelier Marc Supsic. The wine dinner was fantastic.

Lovely room with a view, games room with air hockey and puzzles plus a big TV (my partner had a late night Zoom so it was very nice to have a place to hang out) and breakfast (included) was yummy. Tomi is very nice—sent us to a great little restaurant in town as they were not open the night we stayed-and kindly alerted me the following day after checking out, that I had left a favorite hat—which she then promptly sent to me. Very thoughtful! We will happily stay again

We stayed for one night and had a wonderful experience! The town of Mercersberg, just steps from the inn, was a charming town, and the inn made it that much more special. It felt like we stepped back decades as we walked through the rooms of the inn and enjoyed our clean and comfortable room on the third floor. The owner and host was extremely helpful in getting us checked in and in making sure our stay was enjoyable. We also loved the breakfast, served on a covered porch. We’re looking for an excuse to go back soon!
