Disappointing Experience with Sales Tactics at Miracle Ear, MonroevilleI recently visited (January 2024) the Miracle Ear center in Monroeville, accompanied by my wife. We had an interaction with a Hearing Instrument Specialist that I feel compelled to share. This experience was eye-opening, and unfortunately, not in a positive way.From the beginning, the specialist's attempt at building rapport felt disingenuous. His repeated use of the phrase "I want to help you" came across more as a rehearsed line than a genuine expression of empathy. In the sensitive realm of healthcare and personal well-being, encountering such insincerity was both disappointing and concerning. He continued to repeat this mantra even as we left the building without discussing a hearing solution.During the consultation, it became clear that the Hearing Instrument Specialist was employing what felt like a classic case of problem inflation. He appeared to be driving the conversation to exaggerate the severity of my hearing loss, which, based on my previous consultations and understanding, was not as critical as he was attempting to portray. He did this before testing my hearing! This approach immediately struck me as a manipulative tactic designed to create a sense of urgency and action.As someone with a background in organizational psychology and experience in ethical business practices, I understand the importance of honest and empathetic customer service, especially in healthcare-related industries. It's disheartening to encounter sales tactics that undermine trust and customer care, particularly in the healthcare industry.When I confronted him about these sales practices, his response was unprofessional. Instead of addressing my concerns, he suggested that we leave and seek a hearing solution at Costco. This reaction was not only inappropriate but also indicative of a sales technique that prioritizes closing deals over genuinely addressing customer needs. He offered an apology as we left the building admitting that he has one approach and repeats it with every customer.Reflecting on this encounter, I realize that he was a real-life embodiment of what I would describe as "The Deceptive Guardian of Hearing Care." He presented himself as a knowledgeable and trustworthy professional, wearing his white lab coat, a supposed guardian for those navigating the complexities of hearing loss. However, this facade quickly unraveled as he attempted to exploit the asymmetry of expertise between us. He used his knowledge of hearing loss not to educate and guide, but to manipulate the narrative for his benefit. He reacted poorly when confronted with his questionable technique. Surprisingly, he has not been called out more often for his unsavory practice.In retrospect, his role was less that of a guardian of hearing health and more of a Deceptive Guardian, using his position of knowledge not to enlighten, but to manipulate the narrative to his advantage. His primary goal was not to aid or advise, but to secure a sale through questionable means.I hope this feedback prompts Miracle Ear to reevaluate the conduct of this franchise's approach, ensuring that future customers receive the respectful and honest service they deserve, especially in a field as sensitive as hearing care.I did some research and made an appointment with a trusted local Audiologist.

GREAT HEARING AIDS & CUSTOMER SERVICEI have 80 to 90% hearing loss in each ear. I didn’t think I would ever have good hearing again. I am so glad I went to the Monroeville PA Miracle-Ear store. Hearing Specialist Mike Scarmack made me feel comfortable and fitted me with two hearing aids. I am now able to have one-on-one conversations again, group meetings, phone calls and enjoy TV again. GREAT JOB Mike !!!! You are definitely an asset to Miracle-Ear.

I brought my mom to Miracle Ear in Monroeville for an assessment a few months ago. She was wary of going and didn't realize how much her hearing had decreased. The staff members at this location, particularly Mike, were absolutely amazing. He got her to understand where her hearing was at that time and where it could be with hearing aids. She was initially concerned about being able to wear them but he walked her through the process of putting them in and taking them off as many times as she needed. I am so appreciative of the time they took with her as well as how well they treated her.

Updating my Review - It is 2022 and I am pleased to review again. Most recent annual appointment was with Mikayla and she was terrific! So glad I got to meet and get to know about the training she and other go through to provide the quality knowledgeable service provided at Miracle Ear. I will remain a loyal customer as long as people like Michael, Mikayla and tina are a part of the Miracle Ear staff. Thank you.I have been a client of Miracle Ear since 2015. I am always treated well when I call or visit. Michael is very knowledgeable and takes all the time you need to assess your needs, answer questions like and assure your hearing aids are working to provide the best possible experience. I would not hesitate to recommend Miracle Ear Monroeville to my family or friends.

Every annual visit is handled professionally and reports are sent to the Neurologist who recommended Miracle-Ear promptly!!! Mike is outstanding in the patience and care he gives at each visit. Tina makes us feel welcome and is cheerful during the visit. I would highly recommend the Monroeville location to anyone needing hearing care.
