About Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve

Welcome to the Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve—the only accredited botanical museum in the country dedicated to native plants. The 134-acre Preserve hosts a documented living native plant collection that features over 700 of Pennsylvania's 2,000 native plant species growing in situ. Unlike the many fine arboretums in the region that feature plants from around the world, the Preserve nurtures only plants native to the area. The Native Plant Nursery grows and sells more than 200 plants found throughout the Preserve to visitors; educational programming creatively interpret the living native plant collection in an engaging and meaningful way for everyone from preschoolers to professionals. The Preserve offers a beautiful setting with amazing trails by the creek and some inclined areas, including sections of wildflowers that may be of interest to visitors. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful, providing detailed information about the plants and their growing requirements. Visitors can purchase native plants from the nursery, with a discount available for members who support the Preserve. Guided tours, such as the "zombie apocalypse" tour, are also offered, highlighting edible plants and mushrooms for survival.
