Banfield in Caste Village offered me a 9:15 am drop off appointment for my dog to have a basic wellness check. At 1:45, I went to pick her up and was asked to wait an additional 45-60 minutes. She hadn’t even been looked at yet!!! AFTER HAVIBG HER IN A CAGE FOR 5 hours!!! And that was followed with no apology, rapid fire excuses and a general poor attitude from the receptionist. I WILL NEVER USE THIS BUSINESS AGAIN. I’ve had dogs my whole life and have never had such a poor vet appointment experience. That’s my mistake for trying a corporate vet in the first place. NEVER AGAIN.

We took our dog to another location of Banfields (Crafton) when they first opened. Had great care, great treatment, all good experiences. Then, time went on and covid happened. We moved and were closer to this location. Since then, all mostly terrible experiences. I get covid messed everyone up, and gave this business the benefit of the doubt but...NEVER. AGAIN. I can go on and on with my complaints, such as; Lack of care, how our dog would come back with scrapes and marks on her, literally have my existence ignored while waiting for our dog after they told us she was ready for "pick up" for at least 20 minutes, ignore any kind of emergency (which literally every Banfield in the Pittsburgh area ignored, gave false information, didnt answer AND made us wait in their parking lot for 3 hours just to tell us they can't help, giving us false hope and lost time), not allow you to be there with your pet during care, scold you for things you don't know or are aware of, ignore phone calls or never call back, not caring PERIOD. Incredibly rude and cold front desk staff especially. Oh, and the useless insurance on top of the overcharging on literally everything else.Again, I understand being overworked and understaffed, been there and done that myself. But there is no excuse for treating not only me and my girlfriend, but our own pet, which this place is supposed to help, like trash? No excuse for that behavior. AVOID this place and ANY and ALL Banfields if you truly care for your pet. They just want your money and couldn't care less about your pet. Such a shame there are places like this in existence.

We love Banfield and especially the staff at this location. We are always greeted by name, and both of the vets here have done a great job with one of my cats who isn’t very friendly. I appreciate that so much considering my old vet would not physically examine him. They are kind and patient with the animals. Also, you can almost always get in for a drop off appointment if one of your pets is sick. That is a huge relief. We switched to Banfield a little over a year ago, after our former vet quoted $1200 for a teeth cleaning for one of our cats, and about $900 for spaying our dog. With the mid tier plan, dental cleaning is included—a huge financial relief for us since one of our cats has bad teeth. We also were able to add the spay on to our plan in order to break up the cost, which was great! Some other reviews aren’t happy with the pricing, but I find they are always clear about it and do not overcharge compared to other local vets. When there was a miscommunication, the clinic and corporate worked with us to correct the situation, which was greatly appreciated. Highly recommend this location. Freyja gives them two paws up!

I brought my Guran in for injured paw a few weeks ago that has led me having to come back almost daily for bandage changes and subsequently surgery. They treated my boy like he was their own, so much so, that he LOVED coming to the vets, imagine that!!! . These ladies are amazing and truly care about you and your pet!!! I simply couldn't recommend them enough if your pet needs some type of treatment. Wish more businesses had customer service like this Pet Hospital

Unfortunately, it was a sad occasion that we had to take our 5-year-old kitty to the Banfield in Caste Village, Whitehall, when she suddenly became very ill. What made this all the worse was that we were traveling with kitty and far away from our regular vet, but Banfield immediately gave us an appointment and welcomed us like we were regular patients. The staff members were very considerate and caring, we were treated with compassion and referred to Pittsburgh Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Center for a second opinion since the prognosis was so dire. The Banfield hospital is welcoming, clean and well-lit, with lots of seating in the waiting area, toys to amuse kids and recent magazines. Exam rooms are also clean and fully stocked with supplies. The staff seem to all be animal lovers, and the Vet Techs and Veterinarians were very professional and listened carefully, answered questions and admitted when they didn't have answers-- our kitty had a fatal blood condition and no known cause. Ultimately we decided that the best course for her terminal illness was to end her suffering. The visit didn't have the outcome we wanted, but since we travel frequently with our pets it's nice to know there are places like Banfield for routine care or an urgent situation, and we would gladly recommend them.

For the most part we have been pleased with the service. However our pup passed and they would not release me from the Banfield plan until the end of the year. This is January.

Been going to Banfield for years in a few cities I've lived. Love it. The prepaid plans are perfect.

horribly rude staff. they don't even greet my animals when they come. typical chain vet that doesn't care about animals. last year, my dog was losing his sight (ended up going blind) and they said the soonest he could be seen was 3 weeks out. my husband chose to stay with them due to our insurance plans with banfield. however, each visit I am reminded about the lack of care received. they also only do drop offs now so you can't see how they are caring for your pet. that is when you can even get an appointment. my two dogs will never be back. out of all ongoing issues, I would have to say the lack of care is the worst part. not to mention the cost comparison to other vets. HIGHLY recommend looking elsewhere if you care about and love your pet(s).

My cat has always been given excellent care here and they make it convenient for people. It is very expensive though, 2-6xs the cost of other vets, depending on what needs to be done. Also, there are many vets, instead of just 1 who will get to know your pets health. I still gave it 4 stars since the care is good.

Overpriced for everything regarding my dog. Paid an absurd amount of money for shots in my dogs first year. Then they wouldn’t right me a prescription for ticks because my dog hadn’t been in for a visit for a year. They are a money pit that doesn’t actually care about people’s animals.

Would not suggest this hospital to anyone. I have been with Banfield for 2 years and recently started going to the caste village location and I can definitely say I will not be back. I have brought my dog multiple times with concerns that were just brushed to the side. The most recent time I dropped my dog off for a simple comprehensive exam and he was there for 8 hours before the doctor even touched him and he wasn't ready to leave the hospital until 8.5 hours of him being there. Not to mention no one told me the possible length of time he could be there, but 8.5 hours is ridiculous. My concerns were not addressed and they clearly didn't do an exam at all because I noticed my dog was still itching a looked like he was in pain so I took him to a different location and turns out he has fleas that were somehow missed. If they did an exam something like that wouldn't have been missed, so I truly wonder what they were doing during the 8.5 hours my dog was at their hospital.
