Kill organization with lots of funding but bad reputation in the animal rescue community. Notorious for putting down animals if they are sick instead of trying to help them. There are much better animal rescue organizations in the Pittsburgh area

I'll have to wait for a full review.I had to put my dog of 15+ years down.I had 15 applications in.Adoption was $300-400 with all shots, spay and 40x blood work done.I was really hoping for a pup who was 3 months, started potty training and was foster raised.I decided to stop over and I met 2 pups. The little girl and I seemed to fitDespite being on SSD fixed income ( pretty low), I also purchased the insurance. Her spay was done the day before adoption.Despite the adoption rate being higher than the rest.I didn't fully understand that they didn't have a 2 week checkup or spay issue visit cared for in the package. She did develop a problem with her surgery site.It took 3 days to get an informed call back.Only to say I would be completely responsible for something that occurred from the actual surgery. The insurance I was strongly encouraged to purchase at $56 a month.Has a 2 week wait period on the illness/ injury. This has been worrisome and disheartening.I absolutely hate when someone says, " You could always surrender them."I have adopted from them most of my life. You rescue an animal that has been there 6 days.If she ends up needing radiographs or surgery related to a reaction to the spay, sutures, Seroma, Hematoma, etc.It falls on me ? ?

Absolutely LOVE Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh ! This facility has helped me out on so many different occasions, they genuinely care not only for your pet but for what’s best for you as well ! They are very professional informative and willing to point you in the right direction. You can trust they’ll do their best for you whether you’re looking to adopt, if you have a sick fur baby, or if you have a senior who may be at the end of life, you want to go there.

We had to accompany a friend who had to put his senior cat down due to an emergency and painful situation. On a Sunday no less. They assisted us right away and all the staff was so kind and caring. They are amazing. Contribute if you can.

I adopted my dog here and he is great. Tried to refill heart worm and flea and tick medicine and they denied it because he was due for an exam. That would be great if you actually had time to see him and also if he was sick. So you just want him to get heart worm or fleas and tick? Are you kidding me?

Older (late 60-early 80's old) woman worker in a green hoodie was VERY rude to my little sister while trying to adopt a cat, so rude she wanted to just go home. We left without a cat because of this woman. An animal lost a home because of the disgusting and patronizing treatment we faced here today by her. Maybe the older generation needs to learn they aren't everybody's "elder" and they can't talk down to every 20-something y/o like they're their own children, which is exactly what we experienced. She worked Jan 4th at around 3-4pm. NOT TO MENTION... the cage conditions of the animals is so poor & they're barely tended to all day. Maybe if the staff spent as much time up-keeping the place as they do thinking they're better than everyone who walks in, there'd be more adoptions.

I usually don't post things on Facebook or even complain about shit like this in general but when I bring a cat from the street here and I said can we fix her so they stop repopulating around my house and they say yeah and than I tell them make sure you call us when you are done because I wanna bring her back home to my outside area so she back in her environment , even wrote on the paper and told the people when i brought her in for the first time, they dont even call us aftr 2 weeks i had to call them twice after 3 weeks and leave a voicemail for them to call me today to tell me that they release the cat in the " Wild " word for word remind you this a 6 month old kitten that has no clue where she is now or she even might be dead

We needed a place to take a feral cat to be spayed. Humane Animal Rescue was so helpful. We scheduled the appointment, trapped the cat the night before and took her in the next day. They truly care about animals, and there aren't many places in town that provide this service.

Best Shelter in the area! Within the first day of bringing Bonsai home, he became the family favorite.

I recently had a fantastic experience at the Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh! Amanda helped me adopt the cutest kitten, Waylon, and made the whole process a breeze. She listened to all my newbie cat parent concerns, answered my endless questions, and even shared some game-changing tips that have been a lifesaver as Waylon settled into our home.Amanda provided top-tier service and thanks to her, my little fur ball is thriving.
